Returned, refreshed, surprised and excited.

in break •  7 years ago  (edited)

I really really needed a change of scenery and wow that break was on the cards. No photos no technology just a break away to the capital, but it was amazing how much sofia is westernised compared to where we live now. I enjoyed it, I really did but could I go back to living that lifestyle, hell no!!!

We found IKEA I could have cried.

Seriously the first pit stop we did when we got to the capital was head for IKEA, I kind you not guys I danced all the way to the entrance of the store. When you haven't been to ikea in such a long while, its like all your christmases come at once and I was like a kid in a candy store.

I bought every single useless accessory I could think of, like a cheese slicer I mean you never know when you are going to need a cheese slicer. I also bought glasses, and some bits for the new office when it eventually gets finished. As we speak right now, talk is going on about the new heating system it will be awesome next winter to have warmth coming from one fire and not five like last winter.

Anyway the trip to IKEA was wonderful, a great start to the break. We left there and checked into the hotel and went to eat, we had Chinese food, omg it was awesome, we ordered 2 main dishes, rice and fries. We could not finish it but honestly peoples it was wonderful. There was so much food left I felt so sorry to let it go, but there was no way I was going to be able to finish it.

Day 2 Surprise

Sofia.JPG

The one photo I did take. Look at that mountain in the distance!!

So we went out to to the Serdika mall to grab a coffee, it was so hot already that morning we sat in the terrace part outside in the shade planning what we were doing that day. Alan said we were going to get a new charger for my mac as the old charger cable was so old and had more electrical tape covering it than the wire itself.

In Bulgaria they don't have actual apple stores, it is a premium reseller called Istyle so we headed to the store to pick up a new charger. I walked in pretty much it looks like your ordinary apple store, I went up to the desk and asked for a magsafe charger for a 2012 mac.

The lady went and got the charger, she asked for my name so I gave it to her. She looked on the computer and frowned and looked at me, and then looked at the computer again. I was starting to worry a little as they had asked for my lichne karta, to input my name. Then she asked me to wait a moment and went into the staff area of the shop.

Clueless I turned and looked at Alan who stood looking up at the ceiling, and then the lady returned back to the desk with a bag.

"Here you are!!" She said passing the bag to me.

I took the bag and opened it, inside was a box with a brand new Macbook air in it. I automatically thought she had not understood so I explained that it was a mag safe charger I wanted, not a laptop. She asked for my name again and I gave it and she said that there was no mistake this mac was for me.

Turns out that Alan had bought me a brand new Macbook air as a replacement for my old mac, and never told me. He bought it as an early birthday present for me and arranged an instore collection, I was so shocked and stunned, and grateful for the gift, I had no idea, but Alan explained he knew I needed it for work so it was a worthwhile investment.

Moving data from old mac to new.

After finally calming down, I eventually composed myself and we headed out for some lunch, we took a really long walk to be honest i felt like I walked around the entire city, even though I did not. We had some lunch and went back to the hotel for a little relaxation. Whilst I was itching to play with the new mac, I knew that technology was out of the question for the few days so I left it well alone.

Meal time last night

We found an irish bar, we decided to go in for a drink, I had a pint of Guinness, its not often I drink Guinness but when in an irish bar its the think you have to do, however a pint costs 7 leva about £3.50 so after being lavished on I decided maybe one was enough, then after our brief visit to the Irish bar we went and got something to eat.

We did not get back to the hotel till late last night, after a huge meal and a few drinks, needless to say I slept well last night. I was woken up rudely at 7am this morning, to be told no we have to get up things to do, so reluctantly I got up and we checked out next stop we went to Vratsa.

We got to Vratsa to go to a shop, which sells english furniture which was shipped from the United Kingdom, as the extension is starting to near completion we need a new sofa for the living room, but the problem is the sofa's here are not as good quality so after paying a visit we have arranged to buy a leather sofa and chair for the living room, even though it being second hand, it works out even better because the sofa is more worn in but the leather quality is still excellent.

And after that it was back home where I arrived to find the door finished to the living room which was a custom made strong and stable doors (pardon the pun) actual stable doors, that look amazing and are needing to be varnished.
I am seriously excited to share the entire project when it has been completed and I can show you the whole journey as it happened.

Life is good readers life is good.

More to come.

This is fantastic, looks like you had a wonderful trip although to be honest you can Keep Ikea all to yourself - I always try to avoid it.

It would have been so good to have a secret camera recording you in the Apple reseller - the look on your face when the lady gave you a new MacBook would have been priceless. What a wonderful surprise and gift.

A lovely evening out as well, I can't wait to find out what happened the next day.
