Scientific breakthrough .. tires auto re-weld themselves

Often a car tire explosion causes someone to die, or a trip with family and friends turns into a curse, after tires have been damaged in areas that may be isolated. But scientists have discovered a description of "scientific breakthrough".

Scientists from Harvard University have developed rubber tires that can self-weld when they are broken or cracked while driving. A team of researchers at the John Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Science of Harvard University that this hybrid rubber occurs very small cracks when subjected to great pressure, instead of the usual cracks in traditional tires.

In the same vein, these small cracks are connected to fiber filaments that absorb the pressure and redistribute it on the entire frame, preventing a potential disaster from the tire bursting completely while walking. Once the pressure is removed the hybrid rubber re-forms itself and seals the self-cracks. Scientists have been able to achieve this scientific breakthrough by mixing polymers that make up rubber in a different way was not possible before.
"If there is a cut in the frame, it will not need to be replaced directly, but will re-weld itself enough to save time for the driver to avoid significant damage," said Gerong Wu, a project scientist.

The new technology can be applied to a wide range of rubber products. Harvard University has applied for a patent for a new type of "polymers that randomly diffuse", which are used in the production of new rubber. However, it is not clear when this new rubber will be used to produce tires.
