All Aboard The NYC Summer Train
Good afternoon everyone. We had an interesting and active evening for the Northeast yesterday, but it failed to play out for the NYC area. This was a possibility as I mentioned we'd have to see what can make it down. Today is much more quiet and action is widely scattered, and generally weak. Deep summer looks to return Tuesday, and July overall is looking toasty with brief breaks.
SATELLITE
We'll still have some clouds sticking around tomorrow, but some extra sun will help boost us into the low 80's in most spots.
For Tuesday, a light northerly flow and full sunshine will help ratchet up the temps, but we remain dry for 1 more day humidity-wise. Look for highs in the upper 80's to low 90's, and we'll see these very warm temps right to the beaches.
We turn up the humidity a bit on Wednesday, but it won't be as bad as Thursday onward. Expect upper 80's to low 90's again, but a developing seabreeze could keep things in the low to mid 80's at the beach during the afternoon.
The juice and mugginess return on Thursday and Friday, with upper 80's, and the slight chance of an afternoon storm each day. That heat and humidity continue onward into the weekend, with upper 80's again, and the chance of an isolated storm Saturday. We'll be watching Sunday for more numerous storms, but we're too far out right now to pin it down.
In essence, our July weather continues, with brief breaks in between like today and tomorrow. Our long range keeps this pattern going, and depending on how everything plays out, we could see our first "heatwave" in the last 1/3 of July. It all depends on the final setup AND what your definition of heatwave is.
3 days of 90+ are possible, but 100 is going to be a tough marker to hit, at least this go-around.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
