COASTAL BRUSH OVERNIGHT TONIGHT EARLY TOMORROW

Good morning everyone. We're looking very solid forecast-wise for our system overnight here in the NYC area if you compare what we see now, to what I was discussing last week. Everything seems to be on schedule and most of the heaviest action remains well to our east.
EASTERN SATELLITE

storm free

High clouds will begin to move in today, but we remain mostly sunny for the most part; highs in the low 50's. However, a developing ESE breeze will tell you something is afoot.

Clouds will lower and thicken this evening as our system takes an offshore pass, but just close enough to brush us with some action. Winds will stiffen up and go due east for a time, and we'll have the chance of some rain developing between late evening and midnight.

I still believe we may see some enhanced tides and local minor flooding overnight, but most of us will be asleep to notice.

Also, those who live out east or visiting the Forks of Long Island, they will see heavier precipitation and winds since it'll be closer to the system. Areas such as the Forks, Nantucket, and Cape Cod, could see rain, heavy at times, with gusts possibly beyond 40mph on the Forks, and even heavier gusts by the Cape.

REGIONAL RADAR

Low pressure departs early tomorrow morning, taking any clouds and showers with it early as well. Sinking air will help propel us into the upper 50 to low 60 range tomorrow, but the pressure gradient will give us a windy day. Expect west winds 15-20mph with gusts to 25-35mph. Overnight tomorrow, winds will subside a bit and we'll have steady breeze instead of gusty winds.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

storm free

Thursday looks breezy, sunny, and seasonal, highs in the upper 50's. Then, another system begins to approach the area on Friday for a rather unsettled day.

Some outlets are calling for a rain/snow mix in the NYC area to start things off, but I'm going to hold off on that. As of now, I simply don't see it and it's a very hard thing to pull off mid-afternoon with an approaching system from the west this time of year.

Time will tell, but I'm not touching it yet. At minimum, we'll see a rainy day Friday.

Whatever does come our way Friday, begins to pull out early Saturday and we're looking at a seasonably mild 3 day period. If we clear out early enough, 60-65 isn't off limits for Saturday afternoon as that system pulls away. Clouds will be the biggest factor as to how mild we get, so we'll keep it tame for Sunday and Monday, with more 60-65 degree temps unless I see anything different.

Either way, an active period is brewing for the NYC area and we could get back into the pattern of a system every 3-5 days. You know what they say in New York, Aprils showers bring May showers; and May showers bring early June fog and gnats.
