FLORENCE REMNANTS ARRIVE SEASONAL WEEKEND AHEAD
Good morning everyone, the moment everyone has waited for has arrived. Remnants of Hurricane Florence have arrived into the New York City area with little fanfare (as expected) aside from media coverage (as expected).
REGIONAL RADAR
Most of Florence"s energy will be and has been going to our north as it rides up an approaching cold front. This will help enhance our front today and the threat of tropical showers and gusty rumbles of thunder will be with us for most of the day. Aside from the root-cause of the rain, it'll be your typical muggy, showery day here in the NYC area; highs near 80 if it remains completely cloudy, low 80's if the sun peeks out from time to time. In times of heavier rain, we could see some localized flooding in poor drainage areas, but again, typical and nothing extraordinary.
Our Florence-enhanced front clears out later tonight, pulling most of the clouds with it by sunrise tomorrow morning. Expect a beautiful day with low humidity and a light northerly breeze; highs near 80 as some warm air lingers, but it'll be comfortable nonetheless. Thursday remains looking seasonal as winds switch around to the NE then SE with approaching warmer air for Friday. Look for sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70's. On Friday, we return to a southerly flow ahead of another reinforcing shot of cool air, but we'll have to wade through another warm and humid day before we get there; highs in the low to mid 80's.
The weekend continues to look fantastic, with sunny skies and low humidity both Saturday and Sunday. We'll be in the mid 70's Saturday, then low 70's for Sunday as cooler air pushes further in. It'll be your typical and comfortable late September weather that we've been missing.
Your start to next week continues looking seasonably cool to slightly below normal, but we'll go into that as we get closer.
