MID SUMMER EAST COAST RETURN TROPICS WAKE UP
Good morning everyone. We have one more cool one today in New York City before the gears go in motion for summer's return. Also, the tropics are starting to wake up from their long slumber.
Cloudy skies and the slight chance of showers remain this morning; then we may see a few peeks of sun out there. Throughout the day there will be a lingering chance of a light shower or patch of drizzle; but as stated earlier this week, keep your plans because nobody is getting washed out. Look for highs in the 75-80 range, closer to that 80 degree mark if we can squeeze out some sun.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Tomorrow, we slowly start to bring the heat up on the pot of water. We'll start off with a light easterly breeze, a cool morning, and variable clouds. Humidity will begin to slowly creep up, and there will be a slight chance of afternoon showers with the leading dome of hot air making its way towards us. Expect highs in the low to mid 80's, which just like today, hangs on the amount of sun we get.
For your Labor Day Monday the heat is definitely on. Look for varying cloud-clover between partly to mostly cloudy, humid, and highs in the upper 80's to low 90's. Throw in the slight chance of an afternoon storm, and your return to deep summer weather is complete.
We start the rest of the week in hot fashion on Tuesday, with sunny skies, muggy conditions, and highs 90-95. Tuesday's record of 93 in 1961 could be in jeopardy of being tied or broken depending on the final wind profile as sunshine won't be a problem. We remain hot through at least Thursday, with highs near 90 each day, bright sunshine, and muggy conditions. Then on Friday, relief may swing this way in the form of a frontal boundary draping across the area. Depending on the timing of the front, we could see one more hot one Friday, or a day in the low to mid 80's with humid conditions as another transition begins.
