NYC Coastal Storm On Schedule Not As Strong

Good morning everyone. We are watching our coastal storm unfold and while everything remains on schedule and on its expected path, it's not as strong as some models depicted. Our area was always on the fringe of this thing, so it doesn't change the forecast much locally, but there are some tweaks.

Look for increasing clouds after some morning patches of blue. It'll be a chilly one with highs in the low 40's. A steady NE wind is still in the forecast today, so it'll feel raw on top of the unseasonably chilly highs.

Overnight, rain moves in but one of the tweaks in the forecast will be the wind. Expect a steady NE wind to continue, but we'll take the 40-50mph gusts off of the table. Our low pressure is simply not strong enough and the pressure gradient isn't as tight. Look for NE winds 10-15mph with a few higher gusts.

We'll have a showery and raw day tomorrow with mid-40's. There's still the prospect of some coastal flooding, and a steady NNE wind will keep things feeling raw. With low pressure organizing better when it departs, enough energy may be left behind to give areas upstate some mixed precipitation/wet snow before everything ends.

That won't be an issue down by us and rain should come to an end before sunrise Tuesday. Blue patches will break out late and we should have highs in the low 50's.

We are quiet and cool on Wednesday with mid to upper 40's and dry conditions. Thursday is a little warmer with low 50's, but we cloud up late with our next system.

As of now, Friday looks like a transition day with out next cool shot coming in, but the system doesn't look to have much with it. Look for the chance of a few showers, then we drop into the 40's again for next weekend; possibly even colder.
