NYC Humid Sandwich Today
Good morning everyone. We have a cloudy and humid one ahead today as we sit sandwiched between a warm front to our east and a cold front too our west. Don't get too excited through, they're too close together and any chance of sun is slim to none. Our weekend forecast is also holding steady, which is not good news for Mother's Day.
We'll be socked in with clouds for the most part today, and juicy air will give us the chance of brief rounds of moderate to heavy showers at any time throughout the day. Most of the energy remains to our west and north, but we could hit the tail end of some more organized showers and storms later this afternoon and evening. Highs a humid 70-75, cooler at the coast with a stiff southerly fetch off of the water.
Tomorrow continues to look like a beautiful day, so continue with your alternate outdoor plans in response to a gloomy Mother's Day. We'll have a dry, northwesterly flow, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 60's to low 70's.
Clouds return tomorrow night and we'll have the chance of rain on Sunday. The majority of the action could hold off until mid to late afternoon (maybe even evening), but the jury is still out on that. Regardless, expect a gloomy, raw, and cool day with mid to upper 50's. Basically what I'm saying is, this is not the day for a BBQ and outdoor party any way you slice it, rain or no rain.
The best chance of rain is actually Sunday night into Monday, then the forecast gets a little fugazy after that. Rain and 50's rule the roost Monday, then we have to wait and see if the low gets hung up off of New England, spinning back more gloom for an extended period of time.
As of now, Tuesday could suffer and Wednesday is up in the air. We'll also have another system swinging by late week, which could actually pave the way for a nice weekend next week IF it can keep moving. If so, we could have ourselves the first textbook spring weekend we've had in a while.
Stay tuned.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
