NYC Light Rainout Precedes Storms

Good morning folks. We’ll get right into it this morning so you can make proper adjustments to your plans today. Our front is in too close of proximity to squeeze out a semi-dry day today before storms arrive later.

Light rain has moved in overnight and will be with us on and off for much of the day, keeping temps down and dampening much of the day.

Expect on and showers, then MAYBE a small break in between, before a larger round of showers and storms arrive. It’ll also be humid with highs in the 75-80 realm, maybe low 80’s if there’s a peek of sun; but that’s stretching the bounds of optimism at this point. Some storms, especially later this evening, could be strong to severe.

We’ll be cooler at the shore as well with stronger winds, and rip currents are a possibility. Overall, today is obviously not a beach day.

Tomorrow is actually looking better than today on the flip flop, with maybe a shower in the morning, another chance in the afternoon; then storms should hold off till late evening. Highs tomorrow a humid 80-85 with some peeks of sun possible. (Cooler at the coast)

This is why we’re scaling things back during this period and taking it Day by day. We have to see each day where the precip sets up and the timing.

While things were looking optimistic on Thursday for today, it slowly started to slip away and yesterday morning I said not to cancel plans yet, but we’d have to watch the radar.

Now you can cancel. Tomorrow’s a new day and we’ll see what it brings. Remember to treat all storms with respect, especially when it comes to the lightning.
