NYC Quiet & Cool Weekend Ahead

Good morning everyone. We'll be on the quiet side with some clouds slipping in & out overnight tonight and tomorrow morning, as seasonably cool conditions take hold for a few days. There's nothing big going on and I think if the pattern times out right, we could be in for a real spring treat as we get close to or at the beginning of April.

Look for sunny skies today, then increasing clouds tonight. Those clouds are associated with a weak area of moisture that'll slip to our south. Highs today will be in the low to mid 50's with steady westerlies.

We wake up with clouds in the area tomorrow, then decreasing clouds. Slightly cooler air works in tomorrow with highs in the upper 40's to near 50.

That cool air sticks around for Monday, and we probably won't reach 50 this time around. Expect highs in the upper 40's with sunny skies.

On Tuesday, we rebound into the low to mid 50's, but an approaching weak system may touch off a few scattered morning showers.

Sun and low 50's dominate for Wednesday and onward, but more weak areas of moisture push through Thursday and early Friday.

Last week, I spoke about a possible period of gloom in our area. This is pretty much it, but with some space in between these nuisance systems. That'll allow a day or two of sunshine, then a quick shot of scattered showers before sunshine returns. We're in an elongated transition period right now as the pattern resets.

As we go on, more vigorous areas of low pressure will once again start going well west and north of us. This will set up more opportunities for a day here and a day there of mild weather. Systems tend to move faster in the winter compared to the spring and summer, and as our features start to slow down, there will be chances for more than just 1 mild day.

If everything times out correctly and we get these systems going well west of us again, that should allow high pressure to pump in some very mild air into our area some time between late March and early April. Don't be surprised if we get another opportunity at some 70's during that time period IF it works out.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS
