NYC Warm Mostly Cloudy Afternoon Textbook Independence Day

Good morning everyone. We have a bank of mid to high level clouds in the area which will probably be with us for most of the day. Just like yesterday, we also have scattered showers and storms to our west and north of the NYC area. Most of the action should stay that way, but we should be on the lookout in case a few isolated renegades drift our way.

Mostly cloudy skies to continue for much of the day, with humid conditions and highs in the upper 80's. Again, we have that slight chance of a stray shower or storm.

For your July 4th, we are looking very good and very warm. When most people imagine July 4th, this is what it looks like; sun and clouds, very warm and humid, highs in the upper 80's. I'll keep the slight chance of an isolated storm in the forecast, but it is unlikely at this time.

Fog rolls in late tomorrow night, so if you're on the water, keep your celebration regulated to the fireworks and then get back to port. Staying out after the midnight hours could mean finding yourself in some trouble, especially if you don't have radar; and if you do have radar, then you have to worry about the ones who are speeding around and don't.

Friday starts out foggy in spots with the chance of a few showers and storms. Depending on the cloud cover, we will range from 85-90 and humid.

Saturday will bring us the best chance of storms as our cold front approaches. Look for the chance of storms at any time from late morning, onward. It'll also be very warm and humid, highs in the upper 80's to low 90's. The hotter we get and the more sunshine we get, the more fuel for storms we'll have, so keep an eye out and we'll see if any severe weather pops up.

Sunday remains looking warm and much drier, with highs in the mid 80's, decreasing humidity, and the very slight chance of a popcorn shower or storm, especially till late morning.

To start our week next week, we remain warm and dry, then slowly turn up the furnace again Tuesday and beyond. Our long range is holding very strong, with these 4-5 day blocks of very warm to hot conditions and increasing humidity, then a 2-3 day period of warm and dry weather.

We are full into summer-mode now, and while there are no signs of any major heatwaves in our immediate future, we also have no signs of backdoor cold fronts with gloom and cool temps either.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
