How Hamster Kombat works and who will definitely make money on “hamster fever”
On March 26, the game Hamster Kombat was launched on Telegram. Ten days later, 1 million players were already registered. Soon after, she became the top phenomenon of 2024. Kommersant-Review figured out how this project works and who will make money from it.
By right of second
The success story of Hamster Kombat began long before the launch: on January 1, 2024, a built-in clicker game from Notcoin appeared on Telegram. All users had to do was click on the image of a coin on the screen until the energy supply ran out in order to receive these same virtual coins. And you can either simply save them or invest them in leveling up in order to knock out more coins with one swipe of your finger on the screen. The creators promised that these virtual coins would then turn into real ones. More precisely, into NOT digital tokens, which can already be converted into any other cryptocurrency or withdrawn through exchanges into fiat money. Millions of players trusted the developers. Moreover, Notcoin was advertised by Pavel Durov himself. As a result, after a couple of months the project had an audience of 35 million users. Around the same time, another similar project was registered on Telegram - Hamster Kombat, where you had to “tap” not a coin, but a hamster. On April 1, Notcoin stopped the game - it was no longer possible to earn coins for yourself. But the developers, as promised, carried out an Airdrop - distribution of tokens among the project participants. This happened on May 16th. In total, more than 80 billion NOT tokens were distributed, 90% of which were distributed to players. From that day on, an explosive growth in user interest in Hamster Kombat began. After all, then it became clear that it was quite possible to earn money for playing on your phone.

Who exactly created Hamster Kombat is unknown. According to the online publication The Bell (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent), the co-founder of CarPrice and CarMoney Eduard Gurinovich, as well as Alexander Zelenshchikov and Alexander Pasechnik are behind its creation. There is no official information about the creators of this project yet, unlike Notcoin. Its developer is Alexander Plotvinov's Open Builders company. The same company was also developing a built-in electronic wallet for Telegram - Wallet. But no matter who is behind Hamster, the founders of the game thought through everything to the smallest detail, taking into account the mistakes of their progenitor. The authors of the project insist: this is not just another clicker game, but a strategy for managing a cryptocurrency exchange. Despite the "hamster tapping" meme that's gone viral, endlessly poking at your smartphone screen in Hamster Kombat really becomes pointless very quickly. The whole emphasis here is on upgrading cards that provide passive income. Most of them become available when you accumulate enough coins. But the most profitable cards are opened only by inviting friends to the game. Only those who follow the player’s referral link are considered friends here. That is, exclusively new users. This is how the creators skillfully stimulate the constant growth in the number of players. And according to the project itself, there are already 200 million. Only two projects had previously managed to achieve such a result in such a short period of time - the game Pokemon Go and the social network Threads (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and is banned). But this figure is not much more important for the game creators. Hamster Kombat is not only a gaming application on Telegram. This is a whole scattering of channels on social networks - Telegram, YouTube, Twitter. And their “Khomyak” storms with unprecedented pressure. On July 6, the number of subscribers to the official Telegram channel of Hamster Kombat reached 50 million—a record for Pavel Durov’s social network. On June 26, the official account reported 10 million followers on Twitter, and on June 28, Cointelegraph reported that the Hamster Kombat team had submitted an application to the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest growing channel in YouTube history. The Khomyak channel reached the 10 million subscriber mark in just 6 days, 13 hours and 15 minutes. As of July 8, the channel already had 32.6 million subscribers. And this is only for the main channel. But the project has 17 more local channels in different languages. And this is more than 5 million subscribers. This attention of users to the social networks of the game project is not accidental. The creators of Hamster Kombat are diligently encouraging players to visit the original YouTube channel and watch videos on it. Every day, players are asked to complete a task - follow the link and watch the latest news release from “Khomyak”. For this, the player receives some virtual coins to his balance. But the project itself makes quite real money from this. In just a month of its existence, the official Hamster Kombat YouTube channel brought its creators $5.2 million in advertising revenue. The amount of daily income increases with the number of players. In addition, the project receives advertising revenue from Telegram and Twitter, and also enters into partnership deals. The loudest of them is with the Winline bookmaker. According to various sources, the bookmaker could pay about $100 thousand for the company's advertising to appear regularly in Hamster Kombat during the European football championship.
