WHY OUR LOW ENTREPRENEURSHIP LEVEL?
To be able to have a country with a good economy, it takes 2% of the entrepreneur population. The United States has 11% entrepreneurs, Singapore 7%, Malaysia 5% and Indonesia only 0.18%. Ciputra launched an entrepreneurial education program targeting 2025 with a 2% entrepreneur ratio.
The question is, why do we have low ratios even compared to the same neighbors as Malay clumps? The answer is our fate because the Dutch colonized, not England. Then coupled with some government policy mistakes adds to this problem.
In the Dutch era, the Dutch East Indies community was divided into three big groups, namely white, foreign and inlander or indigenous east. Socio-economic societies are in the highest caste. they hold sources of money such as industry and finance. Being a foreign east like China, Japan, Arab and turkey got the job as an intermediary trader. Except for some Chinese people who have been equated with white skin like Oei Tiong Hwam, can own the industry.
Natives divided into two namely priyayi (officials) and artisan farmers. Both hold sectors that do not make much money. Priyayi towards service and power, high prestige. native and eastern foreigners who eventually dominated China made for mutual disdain. The prijaji party thinks Chinese people only think about money because it is a trade job. The Chinese people think the priyayi is lazy and his job is blackmailing people.
Until now, the main goal of the natives was to become an official. They barely care about their income, which is important to have a position, uniform and work behind the desk. Therefore, the entry test of civil servants in Indonesia and Suriname (former Dutch colony), can to rent the stadium so many enthusiasts. Being an entrepreneur here is considered an accident, and they work hard as entrepreneurs in the hope that their children can get a position as an official. They do not train their children to be good entrepreneurs because they themselves want to be an official. When there are opportunities during reform, those who are successful as entrepreneurs are also flocking to become officials, starting to become members of the legislature until the head of the region.
Chinese and indigenous people are constantly pitted against the Dutch. The living quarters were separated, and both were made to think it was impossible to match white people. This is apparent when the invaders leave. While in Malaysia, India is a British colony, once colonizers leave, indigenous people immediately take over the industrial and financial sector. In Indonesia, both natives and Chinese people who have hundreds of years here do not dare to take over. Finally the Chinese people born outside Indonesia who took over early in the beginning of independence. The indigenous is fun to be an employee and a politician.
The New Order era further exacerbated indigenous interests into entrepreneurs, restricting Chinese people to government access. As a result they focus on the economic sector, and the indigenous people are increasingly excluded from the economic sector. Of course this is not the fault of Chinese people, but due to government policies that isolate them in the economic field make them focus there.
In BTD this is our opportunity to gain glory in the economic field by first we learn the system to companies that have been proven to have a good system. Why is that ? because until now there has been none. I repeat that there is not a single domestic networking company that has a strong system and can make its members free financially and free time.
