BTS is a Korean Idol group composed of seven boys.
The Korean name of BTS is ‘Bantan Boys’.
‘Bantan’ means bulletproof in Korean.
The name was conceptualized with the thought that BTS would block out stereotypes,
criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets
and protect the values and ideals of today’s adolescents.
The early period of their album has many songs that criticize the old generation’s
suppression and induce adolescents a courage to pursuit their dreams
not controlled by others.
BTS later added the meaning of "Beyond The Scene" as part of their new brand identity.
BTS was created by Bang Si-hyuk who is the representative of a Big Hit entertainment.
Big hit entertainment is a name of the company where BTS belongs.
Bang Si-hyuk was already a famous composer and producer before he founds the company.
He worked as a music composer and producer at JYP entertainment which was one of the biggest entertainment company in Korea.
After he got out of JYP, he established his own company ‘Bit hit Entertainment’.
When he founded ‘Big hit entertainment’, it was one of a small entertainment company.
Usually, famous idol group comes out of big entertainment company
such as SM, JYP and YG.
These three are called three grand entertainment company in Korea.
For small companies, it’s hard to overcome the outcome of the grand companies.
People didn’t expect this grand success of BTS and they are also called as a miracle from a small company.
After the success of BTS, of course Bit Hit Entertainmet settled as a grand entertainment company.
The first person who joined BTS is RM. RM is a root of BTS.
RM was performing as a rapper in underground music scenes and uploading his music.
When Bang Si-hyuk happened to hear RM’s rap,
he felt a sense of duty to excavate such a talented musician and contracted with RM soon after.
RM’s early name is Rap Monster and now he is called aka RM.

When Bang Si-hyuk formulated BTS, he contracted with RM and
his first concept of BTS was a hiphop group with rappers being main members.
But as the new trainees were scouted, the concept of BTS was changed
closer to the idol style.
The early period of BTS looks close to hip-hop group.
Their music style and lyrics were wild and rebellious.
And the early album has many stories about teenagers and schools.
One of the reason would be that, members except Jin were all teenagers when they debuted.
Jin was only a college student at that time
and Jungkook was the youngest.
Jungkook entered Big Hit entertainment when he was in middle school.
