There is no way to know the amount of the upvote until the bidding window is closed.
Like most other bidding bots, we have a 2.4 hour bidding window where people can submit links with a bid for voting power. Once the time has passed, we tally the bids and hand out an upvote based on how much you bid. It depends on how much you bid and how many other bid in that window. Sometimes you break even, sometimes you do good, sometimes you make a killing.
But there is no way to predict what it will be as it depends on how many people submit a bid during that bidding window.
Sorry you don't want to use it again, but that's how bidding bots are. There are a few instant vote bots out there if you want to go that route like @randowhale. These also have random votes as well and no predetirmined vote value.

There is a chance of that yes but it is rare. Some windows are really busy or someone bids a very high amount trying to take the pot which skews the bids.
Every bidding bot and even instant vote bots can be negative at times many are frequently. It is rare that we are but it does happen.
You sent $1 to @nettybot who has a $1.60 reward pool. In the best case scenario if you got 100% of the reward pool you would get $1.20 back after curation and a little less after decay. The likelihood of you being the only bidder is extremely low. You were guaranteed a negative return before you even sent the money.
You also bid higher than we suggested with our service, and just unfortunate to be in a busy window. Most windows are positive and people are very happy with the service. You didn't do any research and got unlucky, and now you want to run a smear campaign to make yourself feel better.
You are free to do what you choose, but I suggest you take a moment to think about how it happened and how you are acting.
