At the Show Window of Buddhist Miscellanies

in buddhism •  5 years ago

There was an appointment with my friend in the downtown. After meeting with my friend, I headed for Chogyeosa temple located in the center of Seoul metropolitan. Even though the temple was located in the center of the city, it was not easy to stop by on purpose.

So it was not strange the area where the temple located was not so developed as other areas in the downtown.

The reason why I'd like to stop by was the shops selling the miscellanies concerning Buddhism. As the city was developing, those kinds of shops were getting disappeared.

The shop owners were so strict to be photographed, I didn't know the reason. But they were somewhat hostile to the photographer.

The shops by the road

clothes for the monks
small sculptures

It seemed that we could not see those shops in the next decade.

I remembered buying the souvenirs from pushchairs along the streets in Seoul. Most if not everything were overpriced. Taking photos of them serves as better souvenirs!

@slowwalker,
In my country there are a lot of these types of shops available and I don't know why they strictly to photography! In here, they like it, if we could take photography of them!

Cheers~

@slowwalker, I don't have idea why shop owners be strict for take photo shots. Probably big reason having behind them. These shops had many Buddhist miscellanies. Buddha sculptures most awesome with different faces and body actions.

It looks like a souvenir shop for tourists, some traditional items in memory of the trip. I usually take few of such presents to friends and colleagues. I hope you have had a nice time in downtown :)

small sculptures looks so incredible thanks for sharing that shot

It is a shame that these shops are disappearing from the face of Korea. Change is never easy, and I wonder if these shops are not as profitable for them because of the bigger stores taking over and also internet sales?

Sad that buying face to face is going out of business.

Did you find something that piqued your interest? Good morning to you and have a wonderful day!

안녕히 주무셨어요?
