It's been 5 days since my first application submitted on @buildawhale #curator-application however until this article is being written, the application is not yet decided.
While waiting, to kill my boredom, this time I wanna challenge myself to curate using the different method.
Unlike the previous one where I curated 6 posts based on my improvised standard (education filter) , this time I am going to try again by curating only 3 posts as rules mentioned on the pinned post at #curator-application discord room.
To maintain consistency, I am still going to use a certain pattern but this time far different from the previous one.
Data Sampling
Data source : @buildawhale transfer lists
Thresholding data based on:
- The age of post : <= 24 hours
- The number of available upvotes >50
It's been always interesting to see a post how they grow very fastly within a day.
That is the reason why I set these thresholds.
The chosen ones:
1) Make Better Decisions by Investing Time by @aleksandraz
Info: Within 17 hours, this post has reached 100 votes (either by human or bot). This is quite impressive.
Curation: To be honest, I find it difficult to see what is the exciting part of this post. It only contains a double taken lantana camara in one picture with some un-related to picture explanation.
It explains the comparison between average people and wealthy people in time they spend to think about financial planning. It is also added by argument on the explanation part is weak. The writer does not refer the statement based on a trusted source.
I failed to do the curation job this time lol.
2) Monster Jam @ Marlins Park!!! by @limelightmg
Info: 89 number of votes within 13 hours.
Curation: Mostly pictures with a very minimum explanation. It tells about the writer experience to the monster jam show!!. The only part what makes me interesting to see is the kids' smile, nothing else.
3) @sweetsssj is the largest abuser of last minute upvotes! by @berniesanders
Info: 269 votes within 3 hours, WOW
Curation: Only with 49 words 350 characters (counted using here) this post is the winner in the number of votes and the time created. For you who knows who are @berniesanders and @sweetsssj will ask no more question. For you who don't know who these 2 Steemit celebrities, you should begin to do a research on your own.
Conclusion:
This thresholding method used to curate posts is considered weak, I am unable to explore in-depth 'diamond' contained from the posts. The best conclusion that I can make is that "sometimes a number of votes does not fairly represent the quality". I still cannot clearly explain the motive behind this what I am able to do right now is to make a guess and unable to present it here because it is going to be off-topic.
this methode is presenting the fact of steemit nowadays.! Lot of upvote are not presenting the quality of a post. Good job bro..!
