Manchester Civil Justice Centre
Manchester’s Civil Justice Centre completed in 2007, houses Manchester's county court and the Manchester District Registry of the High Court, the city's family proceedings court, the district probate registry, and the regional and area offices of the Court Service and is the first major court complex built in the UK since 1882.
Designed by Denton Corker Marshall, a Melbourne firm of architectural modernists with a reputation for high-concept design, the building is exhilarating and exciting and the 11000 square metre suspended glass wall on the west side is the largest in Europe.
Its green credentials also stand up to scrutiny as it is cooled by water from an aquifer and ventilated through wind scoops whilst a weather station on the roof communicates to the building management system, making continuous eco-sensitive adjustments.
A stunning addition to the Manchester skyline, the centre is located in Spinning fields, just a short walk from the city centre and transport hub.
SCARY!
