This project creates a transition from metal roofing to Ferro-cement using metal strapping, rocks, lathe, and some scraps of Trex decking.
In the above picture, strapping is fastened to tin roof, rocks fill gap underneath the strapping, and then mortar fills the gap which is about 6" of roof.
Next, lathe has been cut in strips to bridge the transition and give added strength. Then mortar covers the lathe to secure it to the previously added mortar and the existing Ferro-cement section. The lathe will give added tensile strength and prevent cracking along the seam.
Trex decking is ripped at 45° down the middle, and then installed at the top edge of the ferro cement section, an downward angle toward the 45° drip edge. It is secured with protruding screws which are then mortared over.
Finish coat has color added and transitions tin to ferro-cement to Trex, which will be used as a fastener for greenhouse plastic.
