Define White Blood Cells

Another name used for white blood cells is leukocyte which is most important part of our immunity because these are sum of specialised cells made for protecting our body against different type of infections diseases and pathogens.

If I talk about characteristics of white blood cells then they are colourless cells which contains a nucleus. White blood cell produce in our bone marrow and done the circulate in our blood and lymphatic drainage system.

White blood cells also have some of its types in which first of all neutrophils come because they are present in 65%% of their amount as they fight against any bacteria and fungal attack and then lymphocytes come with 25%% and they identify type of virus and abnormal cells presence in body and fight against them and then monocytes , basophils and eosinophils comes with around 10% that fight against foreign particles parasites and inflammation respectively.

If white blood cells are present in body then definitely there could also be abnormality in there count so there will be leukocytosis if white blood cells will present in high amount abnormally and it will cause infection or cancer even. There will be leukopenia if white blood cells will be in low amount and it will cause disorders of bone marrow and ultimately make immunity of a person weak.

Neutrophilia vs Neutropenia

Neutrophilia vs Neutropenia

ConditionNeutrophiliaNeutropenia
DefinitionThere is more neutrophil countThere is less neutrophil count
Neutrophil CountMore than or equal to 7,500 cells/μLLess than or equal to 1,500 cells/μL
CausesOccurs due to infection, inflammation, stress, cancer, some particular medicine usageOccurs because of chemotherapy treatment, radiation therapy, infections like HIV, TB etc and autoimmune diseases
SymptomsIt may cause fever, extreme cold, fatigue, inflammation, painIt may cause regular infections, fever, malaise, weakness, mouth infection
TreatmentAddressing root cause, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine usageIt use antibiotics, antifungal medicines, growth factors, transplant of STEEM cell
PrognosisMore fast than NeutropeniaSlower than Neutrophilia

Explain a case related to the white series

Case: Person infected with leukemia (White Blood Cell Cancer)

Suppose there's a 45-year-old male who presented with clinical symptoms of getting fatigued after little exertion and continuous weight loss with regular infections and enhance the size of lymph node.

At advice of doctor he go for laboratory test and result was in the increase of white blood cell count which was more than normal range as well as their verb also abnormal white blood cell differential in which there were 90% blasts that are immature cell. After that platelet count was also less than normal range so doctor diagnose that this person have Acute Myeloid Leukemia is the type of cancer that affect the production of white blood cells.

After diagnosis doctor advised that patient a treatment of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and bone marrow transplant as a last option.

So at last I can conclude this case by saying that if you are having their symptoms from long time then don't forget to go for laboratory test to check your WBC count.
