Pura Agung Besakih is the biggest and grandest temple in Bali. This island is located in Besakih Village, Rendang District, on the southwest slope of Mount Agung, the highest mountain in Bali.

Pura Agung Besakih has an amazing Balinese architectural style and is 915 feet high at the foot of Mount Agung. The building, which was built in the 10th century AD, is the center of Hindu Dharma spiritual activities on the Island of the Gods.

With all the features that Besakih Temple has, it is not surprising that this site has been designated as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site since it survived the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963.

Access from Denpasar City to reach this place is about 25 km to the north from Semarapura City, Klungkung Regency. The journey to Besakih Temple passes through the panoramic view of Bukit Jambul which is also one of the objects and tourist attractions of Karangasem Regency.
