Setiap pagi
di pohon tanjung tua di halaman rumahku
hinggap sepasang kenari
berdendang nyanyi dan bercanda riang sekali
hari-hari tak ada henti
sepasang kenari datang dan pergi
bercanda dan bernyanyi
mengantarku pergi ke sekolah setiap pagi
Semalam hujan turun lebat sekali
angin ribut bertiup kencang
tanjung tua di halaman rumahku pun tumbang
bahan dan ranting patah malang-melintang
Pagi ini
si burung kenari bersedih hati
tempat hinggapnya telah hilang
ia tak lagi berdendang
Burung kenari
esok hari kutanam pohon tanjung lagi
semoga cepat tumbuh dan menjulang tinggi
agar esok lusa engkau bisa bernyanyi lagi.
