How To Make / Use CharCloth. Emergency Fire Starting Using And Ember From Char Cloth For Survival, Prepping or SHTF

#Charcloth is the ideal emergency material for starting a fire as it will catch a spark and burn very well, giving you time to add the glowing ember to a tinder bundle and produce a fire.

Essentially charc-cloth is just burnt cloth.

In this short video I show my way to make a batch of charred cloth using a simple tin and some rips of cotton from an old tee shirt. This is the best char cloth method I have found so far, and I learned howto do this by trial and error..!

More error than trial...! As is most #bushcraft...

This homemade char cloth is a better char cloth method than some I have seen, but don't take my word for it, try making charcloth yourself and see if it works for you.

Charcloth is very light and compact and easy to carry around in a small tin or packet. So light in fact that some people refer to it as char paper. Presumably because charpaper is lighter than cloth..?

Although it is not an alternative to char cloth.

Using a flint and steel or a ferro rod it is possible to send a hot spark onto the cloth that you have charred and it will keep that ember going.

There are many ways to start an emergency fire when outdoors hiking or backpacking in the wild camping.

For preppers, this is yet another survival technique worth knowing and practising.
