One Thing At A Time

One thing at a time.

When you have a long to do list it can be overwhelming. Step back, clear your mind and pick one thing and focus on that until it is done.

It reminds me of when we recently moved. We took our time, packed all of our stuff into boxes and took a few at a time to our new home.

Then, when it came time to actually move in. We were sitting there staring at the boxes overwhelmed with the stuff we had to unpack and find a new place for.

It almost seemed like an impossible task.

We even put it off for a while since we had our bed set up already. We just lived around the boxes for a few days.

Finally, my wife said, "Just pick one box and let's get started."

Once you actually get started and stop thinking about it, you'll notice that overwhelmed feeling immediately starts to subside.

When you finish the first box you get a nice little sense of accomplishment and then you start one more.

Repeat the process and before you know it you have made significant progress and the job no longer feels like it's too big to handle.

So step back, take a deep breath and pick one thing right now. Then get started!
