Luka Koper had turnover in last year of 226 million EUR, with 60 million EUR profit. On the other side of the border, in Croatia, Luka Rijeka had turnover of 22,8 million EUR with something above 100 thousand EUR profit, which is not even comparable to neighbourhood port in Slovenian city of Koper.
Both ports are located on Adriatic cost, relatively close one to another, and Luka Koper has much better business than port in Rijeka, Croatia. Road distance between two cities is 80km.
Broader context brings as Koper on position four in the list of ports on Adriatic, with only ports in Italy above (Trieste, Venice and Ravenna), and Rijeka is on position five. Adriatic sea has nineteen ports in total, and from the list can be seen that biggest are really close - Trieste, Venice, Koper and Rijeka.
