Hi there! I don't know if you know the story of Ricardo Semler. The book I talk you about talks about his life and about what he achieved in an old fashion company.
Ricardo Semler began his activity by dismissing all members of the Steering Committee from his father's company, people who, despite having worked all their lives inside the company, had a rigid vision of how to organize it. His intention was to change the image that the company had, and to transform it and for that it was based on 4 principles:
These were his commandments:
- At SEMCO (the company he got from his father), anyone can participate in the decision-making process
- To be part of the company is always accompanied by responsibility - all members of the organization are responsible for the results of the company
- All members can benefit from the good results of the company - the benefits are distributed among all members, regardless of their position
- Employees receive a share of the benefits according to their participation within the reach of these, which makes everyone treat with maximum seriousness the freedoms they have and are strongly motivated in the performance of their duties.
- To achieve the the 3 principles mentioned above, it was needed to have very few limitations, a great amount of flexibility and, above all, integrity.
This system could not function without the absolute integrity inside and outside the company: with its employees, customers, suppliers, authorities, community, etc. From here comes the trust that makes the syndicates collaborate with the management and that 80% of its clients are recurrent.
