All of us dream about a world driven by clean energy. However, It is essential to take a realistic approach and see that oil will remain as one of the most significant assets for many years to come.

To grow, countries have to pursue energetic independence. Otherwise, it can be a liability that can drag their development down.

For some countries, considering its demographics ( population, household income, age, and ethnicity) and natural resource advantages and disadvantages, it makes sense to pursue energetic independence by harnessing clean energy alternatives fully, but for others, it does not.

For example, it makes sense that a country such as Switzerland with a population of roughly 8.2 million, and an economic base on financial services is focusing on clean energy. However, for a country such as Mexico, it may be another story because it is an industrial country, its population is about 120 million, and it enjoys the natural resource advantage.

In conclusion, energetic independence should be an essential goal of every government. Pursuing clean energy investments is important, and countries with natural resources advantages should harness them to boost their economy an improve the local's living standards.
