The social networking apps in our phone are very good. They keep us connected to the society. But, sometimes we need a break. We choose to be offline, we don’t want messages. If we read someone’s message and don’t reply that becomes an issue. Unlike facebook, the WhatsApp don’t have a logout option. For many years I was living with the idea that it is not possible to be offline from WhatsApp without keeping the mobile data off. But, now I have discovered a simple trick which I am going to share.
In your android phone, go to Settings -> Apps -> WhatsApp -> Storage -> click Clear Cache and Clear Data
A message will popup warning that all this app’s data will be deleted permanently. Click Ok.
Now you are offline from WhatsApp. People will not see you online even if mobile data is on. They will see only one tick mark on messages sent to you. They will not be able to call you through WhatsApp.
If you want to login again, click on WhatsApp icon and you will see as if the app is newly installed. It will ask you to enter your phone number and send an OTP for verification. You will be asked whether you want to restore your previous data. Click OK. Now you are online again. Your chats will be restored. And you will receive messages sent to you while you were offline.
Hope you will enjoy the break.
