Principles to personally cultivate as you work on your start-up.

Many courses focus on the mechanics of creating a business but in addition there are some attitudes we can develop towards fundamental principles that will also improve our chances of success.

Improving our understanding of the principles and nurturing them will help us progress and develop the right attitude to the challenges we may come across in setting up our start-up.

  • Vision - without a big picture and something to strive for there is danger of things becoming a drudge. Start small, but dream big.

  • Work - there is no escaping it. There is also hard work and smart work. The level of each required will fluctuate, don't shy away from it.

  • Inspiration - take time to think and ponder over things. That encourages light-bulb moments to happen and they can make all the difference.

  • Persistence - No pain, no gain. Life is not all easy and so with business too, but those that endure reap the rewards.

  • Accountability - Being answerable, even if its only to ourselves, makes for increased productivity and ultimately prosperity.

  • Time Management - time is money is a cliche for a reason.

  • The power of small and simple things - great doors of opportunity swing on small hinges. Oil the smallest of hinges.

  • Commitment- understand what you are getting into and once in stick with it.

An amazing series for the business lover & learners like me. Without vision we can't make big our business big because a smaller business is result of smaller vision. Work is it's soul & necessary tool for business as I myself experienced in my first business. Commitment was at last in your post but I think it's the most important principle for business. Thanks for this series. Followed & upvoted. Keep it up, dear @sme :)

Curiosity is another one I've always thought it important to cultivate and indulge. It's that thing that makes us ask "What if...?", it's that thing that drives us to always explore over the next hill, it's that thing that leads to innovation and invention.

Also helps lead to inspiration.

In a start-up, you are the brain, the lungs, the heart and the night's dreams. And every item on the list you wrote is must, not a maybe or a half investment. I would sugest patience as important too. Great and concise list.

great points you have discuss here regarding business @sme. I was waiting for your post.yes you are right,I also really feel that first thing is to dream something big,and then start working on it with honesty,"Vision is always a big reason for success"and yes no pain no gain. This line always inspire me,and rest of the point is also very important. Thanks to share with us upvoted and resteemed.waiting for your next post.

Yup, too bad we never teach kids any of those things in schools

Don't let dreams become nightmares, calculate risks you have to take accordingly.

Hard work is necessary, be smart and know how to delegate tasks effectively if you aren't good at what needs to be done.

Take a walk. Movement itself in the physical world translates to increased blood flow to your brain and a faster stream of thought. Meditation may also achieve similar goals.

Most businesses fail within a few years, most successful people fail several times. Hopefully you are in a country with strong social safety nets that allow for risk-taking, or your social network is strong enough to support each other when you reach for newer heights.

The time value of money is huge, just look at how profitable renting out delegation is.

Networking is the most important tool in the modern business world. Networking is everything. Do not burn bridges and elevate your social circle.

Don't waste too much time on a sunk cost either, if it is sure to fail then write it off and use that experience to avoid such a path in the future.

This is really the imformation and motivation that can awaken our career, thank you for sharing this motivation.
I am very proud of you.

Great work bro. Inspiration is must for business because business need patience & inspiration work like a fuel for not only one's brain but whole body to work & focus on an idea constantly & patiently. Thanks for this work, already followed you & waiting for next posts.

Start-up is a thing that you will probably fail, but you cant give up, most of well up and running buissnes are hard standing on earlier mistakes, great post, really inspiring

Whatever the business, to succeed, to do an extraordinary job, one has to focus on all the thoughts, the work of the soul and the body.. @sme

I agree our attitudes towards our business matter alot. From they way we set our goals down to how we treat our customers

Thank you for this informative post, Really helpful and well written @sme

These are some important points that should really be put into cognisance. In most of my business-related articles I always try to explain the importance of starting small. That way the growth of the business can easily be managed.

Commitment is the hardest, sometimes along the way you feel like giving up....

These principles don't only apply on business, but they should be applied generally in life. Whether you want to have a successful business or something completely different it's important you stick to these principles. Nothing in life comes easy...
great post @sme

The power of small and simple things - great doors of opportunity swing on small hinges. Oil the smallest of hinges.

This one is a good advise, i read a book called the slightedge, it emphasizes on those small things we do everyday just as you just said.
Taking a few calculated steps everyday in the right direction. It's one of the few things that we underestimate yet it counts the most.
Good you talked about it.

This is really wonderful, I needed this. Going through difficult times lately

That's a nice post! Really interesting.

Arranging employee's conditions. It motivates them more. Magnify the company with the staff. It should be done with the central board and shafts sharing. These are my additional ideas.

I haven't really done business much but your 7th point is something i really agree on. You may never really know the opportunity that may swing in from that little thing you do! I apply it to my everyday life. Reason i always give my best in whatever i do!

good health.

"oil the smallest of hinges" I like the way you have put that. I guess it means to explore the opportunity that may exist in everything?
