Master P Says "You Can't Ball Forever"

in business •  7 years ago  (edited)

Saw this Master P video in my TL and it's so powerful. His thoughts on ownership are so important, especially when you consider the source. No Limit Records was one of the first independent rap labels to change 'the game'. The way the game had been played and still is played often involves robbing black rappers of their earnings.

Master P even discusses that while talking Ownership in this clip

He mentions the 'financial advisors' people have, who seem to be blocking their financial success. We all have to be careful about who we take financial advice from, because not all 'advisors' have our best interest in mind. This is a huge issue with in the world of MLM/Network Marketing where people sell misinformation for personal gain. You'll find bad advisers in several areas of the financial world, because they are benefiting some how.

Master P talks about going to Silicon Valley and presenting his idea for a video game to professional athletes. Their financial advisors ruled against it saying that they couldn't 'see it'. That's always an interesting excuse - truth is black people were beat out of supporting one another during slavery. Unfortunately those negative, community defeating habits formed on the plantation have been passed down.

I recently wrote about several of these issues ::

There is a mindset and a mentality that black people have to work hard to develop. This kind of thinking was not given to us, and those who had it were lynched. We saw what they did to Black Wall Street, killing over 300 blacks just for being successful. Killing off black leaders who speak out against injustice all helps stoke fears within black people. The fear that they could be NEXT if they don't toe the line. This often is an irrational thought because we see several examples of blacks who do, and still get harmed. That too, causes more fear and paralysis.

In other words, black people are facing a lot, at all times.

Even those who have the mentality of ownership, often will not find 'support for their idea' within their environment. Just as Master P could not get the support of other black Millionaires. Issues like these may take a few more generations to sort out, so long as blacks can overcome the attacks that we should expect by now.

Any black man or woman seeking to accomplish anything in this nation will be challenged along the way. But they must push forward anyway and in spite of those challenges. Their road will be tougher, but what other choice is there? Too many blacks continue to settle for employment, when our eyes need to be on ownership. Nothing will ever change, until we own more than we do now.

However, they know that and so all efforts to gain more footing will be contested.

Now that you know - come to work ready!

That's what I was looking for Al. Great writing.

Yes ownership is really important. I still can't fathom why it is still not more proposed in the black community. But I'm also a sucker when it comes to entrepreneurship. Still employed but my mind trips over some crazy ass ideas like building a space station...
Hopefully I find an itch that really bothers me so much so I can put that mind into it and fix it.

Did you see the new Jay-z video? The Story of OJ it's called. I think you'll like the message in that too.

Peace LC

Thanks LC, always appreciate you.

Business ownership is proposed; I always try to keep a reality perspective on things. We do live in a society that tells us the open oppression blacks faced was a long time ago; but it wasn't really ... and so black people are very much Still dealing with having gone through all of that; coupled with living in a society that to a large degree continues to do things that Impede black progress.

So in summary I'm saying that, while there are plenty of examples of blacks starting businesses, there just aren't enough! Too many black people are seeing 'examples' of black success through Other Ventures. Ironically, several albums Master P made help portray the 'image' of black males 'hustling' through illegal means' to get money; Not enough is made out of the Legal Business Moves Master P made.

At the same time, when people do look at a Master P, an Ice Cube, a Snoop Dogg, all who are making 'business moves today' they all had to represent the 'criminal element' for a while first. Almost like a 'hazing' to be able to make moves in the business world. They'll let a Master P into a meeting because he's one of those ignorant rappers that entertains them and makes them laugh..... He's not a 'threat' to really use any of his money to Promote too many ideas that might threaten their 'power' ....

Business, itself is pretty gangsta like that; Slavery was a business. Capitalism is all about the ongoing competition; its a real life Game of Thrones out here; and there are 'So Many Levels' in the 'game' that most people can't even see all that's set up in place; So for example; jobs are nice and comfortable. They ensure a weekly paycheck, but also take up the majority of our 'time'.

By the time we get free, the 'last thing' we want to do is work; so it kinda discourages opening a business; as that's just more work!! They Psychologically attack us daily; most of us are just entirely unaware because the system is So smooth now; as it has evolved over time, and improved with each new version :)

Not to ramble on, I appreciate Jay Z's efforts, on the whole 4:44 - the video for the OJ song really helps bring it all home. That's what black people are up against, and need to realize. The Omarosa's of the world, who want to take 'sides' with the enemy, in the end get a reminder of what side the enemy see's them on; OJ literally forgot who he was; and the first opportunity they could, they went after him; because ..... Still Ninja ...
