Free Social Media Scheduling

I've tried a number of apps/websites to help streamline my social media and none of them has been ideal. Over the last couple of months, I've come up with my own system which, more or less, automates my social media posts.

The best part is that this process is quick, free and easy to use.

TL;DR
I use this system to bulk batch my social media posts. I scheduled an email to myself for the time and date I want to post, copy the content to Instagram and then automatically share to Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Requirements

1. IFTTT with the following applets
   1. Tweet your Instagrams as native photos on Twitter
   2. Sync your new Instagrams to a Pinterest board
2. Boomerang for Gmail or another email scheduler

Process

1. Set up your email so you can schedule sending. If you're using Boomerang, I recommend setting it up on a personal Gmail address as they allow you to schedule more emails without paying for an account.

2. Sign up for IFTTT and follow the instructions to set up your applets.

3. Compose an email to yourself including the photo you want to use and, in the body of the email, write your post and include the hashtags.

4. Schedule the email so that it arrives in your inbox just before you want to post it on your social media.

5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 as much you want. I like to post once a day, so I schedule emails for the next two weeks and have them arrive at 7:30 am each morning.

6. Once the scheduled time arrives, your email will be sent and it will remind you that you need to post. Open up the email, save the photo or photos to your phone and copy the text.

7. Open Instagram, choose the photo and paste the text.

8. Post!

Note
I use the default Instagram setting to share on Facebook. You could use the same to share on Twitter, but I don't like tweeting a link to Instagram - I prefer sharing the photo directly.
