In the 1870s, Japan began to take over Chinese influence in Korea. After Japan defeated the Chinese Qing empire in the First China-Japan War in 1895, the Shimonoseki Agreement was sealed. Under the agreement, the Qing kingdom agreed to release its full influence on Korea.

In the same year, Maharani Myeongseong was killed by Jepun's physician because the king supported a strong relationship between Korea and Russia. The Japanese side considers it to be a counter-act of retaliation to prevent Japanese influence in Korea. The killing of your king sparked anti-Japanese sentiments within the Korean people immediately.

In 1905, Japan forced Korea to seal the Eulsa Agreement which made Korea a Japanese country. As a sign of dissatisfaction, Maharaja Gojong had sent three secret envoys to The Hague to refute Jepun's actions in 1907 but was not successful. Then, Japan responded by forcing Maharaja Gojong to abdicate the throne to give his son the pass, Sojong. Six days later, a new agreement was made against the Korean kingdom. that is, all matters in the beginning of Korea are under Japanese control.

In 1910, Japan officially invaded Korea after an agreement was made even though the agreement was invalid by law. Finally, he began the Japanese colonial era in Korea and dissolved until Japan surrendered in the Second World War in 1945.
