Art revolution is an exhibition that celebrates Bitcoin's next birthday and will feature "international artists from various parts of the world exhibiting their works around the theme of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies" in Paris, France.
According to its website, "the exhibition will show the potential of cryptocurrencies through symbolism and practice" and "will illustrate the genesis of this digital revolution."
In this sense, artists have had the arduous task of exploring how Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies affect their relationship with the public. Particularly, an approach on whether the first crypto-active can free artists from the traditional art market and, ultimately, from the banking system, to explore greater creative freedoms.
The exhibition is open to the public and will take place from September 28 to October 5.
The exhibited works will be available for purchase using BTC, ETH, XMR or LTC. The website also states that "BTC will be hidden in some works and certificates of authenticity registered in the chain of BTC blocks will also be issued to buyers."
The French artist Pascal Boyart who is the organizer of the event, declared :
"We had the idea to organize an exhibition in Paris to show possible cases of use of cryptocurrencies and connect international artists suitable for cryptography."
Other speakers, Brian O'Hagen, marketing manager of the sponsoring company Coinhouse, added :
"France, through Paris, is well positioned to become the capital of this new artistic movement between art and cryptography. Crypto art redefines the way an artist can involve their audience. The advent of cryptocurrencies is not only a monetary revolution, but also a cultural revolution. "
The exhibition aims to provide "a unique opportunity to decipher the potential disruptions that cryptocurrencies and blockchain can cause in the art world".
One of the topics explored is called "the sale without intermediaries is now possible" and as mentioned previously, the dilemma about whether cryptocurrencies are a vehicle to "get rid of the market of art and the banking system."
The artists featured in the exhibition will include Pascal Boyart, Andy Bauch, Coin Artist, Josephine Bellini, Nanu Berks, Bern Mark, Yosh, Saint Phalle Yom, Choq, Youl and Ilies Issiakhem.
The concept of the exhibition fits very well with the idea of Lincoln Townley , a contemporary artist who sold a whole range of artistic pieces through WeChat, accepting cryptocurrencies as payment method.
In addition to the impact that the ecosystem can have on the art sector, Townley is looking for investors to see the purchase of their works as a new method of investment with cryptography, and this exhibition will probably help this idea grow in popularity even though it does not be your main objective.
Art is usually revalued and the crypto-active market is booming, so this boat can be a good opportunity for those artists who are interested in the ecosystem.
For now, the presence of Townley in the exhibition has not been confirmed, but if the idea is successful it is likely that we will see it in other events that involve cryptocurrencies with art.
