Some of the fields in science falls under the following categories, while others may be a combination of all three.

The main topics are:

  •  Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Yesterday we had a look at biology and the different subjects in biology, as well as different jobs associated with biology. Today we are specifically going  to look at chemistry.

 What is chemistry?

Chemistry is a very interesting part of science, and it investigates the  properties of atoms and the many different substances atoms produce when combined in different ways.

Chemistry is the actual link between biology and physics. Chemistry can be divided into three parts:

  •  Organic chemistry
  •  Electrochemistry
  •  Inorganic chemistry

So what exactly is organic chemistry?

Organic chemistry is the investigation of carbon-based compounds, which  is mostly derived from organic or once living sources. Watch this video  to see what it entails so that you can have a better idea. It is a long  video but it's worth watching and there are even some practice questions  that will help you.

The next part of chemistry is electrochemistry.

 What exactly is electrochemistry?

Electrochemistry is a field of chemistry that uses energy in chemical  reactions to produce electric currents. This type of current is the base  of all batteries and fuel cells.

This video might tickle your fancy and you might be very interested in learning more about this topic.

Inorganic chemistry  is the last part of chemistry but what is inorganic chemistry?

What is inorganic chemistry?

Inorganic chemistry is the study of the structure, properties and  reactions of all chemical elements and compounds except for organic  compounds.

Because most learners are visual learners, videos help us to understand so much more.

I hope you enjoyed these videos and you are now a little bit closer to your goal of finding out more about physics and what you are interested in.

Tomorrow we will discuss physics. This is the last part of the subcategory of science and then we are going to explore biology in detail. If you missed the previous posts, you can read them here.
