What makes us happy?
If you look at science, you quickly find out that happiness is made up of a cocktail of certain neurochemicals mixing in our heads. So, if dopamine and others make us happy, shouldn't we just seek these substances to be happy?
Through the lens of science it seems it's very easy to be happy, but these scientific findings show us just the physical layer, one of many complex layers of our lives, same as scanning a person's heart cannot reveal any feelings.
On the road to happiness
Set your goals. The first step to achieve something is dreaming of it, seeing yourself in that situation you want to attain and then thinking of how you can get there in real terms, with small steps each day.
Be optimistic but always have a realistic mindset.
Yes. It is possible to combine positive thoughts with realistic possibilities in order to achieve your goals and desired outcomes. It is important to reach an equilibrium when thinking about your future so you are not over optimistic and ignoring facts that might make your goal impossible to achieve but also don't go to the other extreme where you consider a goal is not achievable when it actually is.
So, don't under or over estimate the facts and steps needed for you to achieve your goal, think of how long you think it should take you to achieve it and how you will organize your time to work constantly towards your next step ahead.
The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.

Remember, if you truly try to achieve something and give every effort towards it, you are doing your part and even if you don't succeed in the end, you know that you have tried your best. It might be that you did not consider all the facts or misjudged them, so you can try again having learned from your mistakes or there could be something out of your control that is stopping you to achieve your goal. In that's the case, move on to your next achievable goal. When something is out of your control, pray and hope for the best, for the rest of it you need to work hard, there are no shortcuts.
But don't just sit there and imagine all these wonderful goals happening, go out there and fight for them otherwise they will remain just dreams.

Your article is very inspiring. But you know that one can't stay focused and optimistic every single day forever. Happiness and optimism differ from day to day. Sometimes one is moody, sometimes more excited, but what matters in the end is how we deal with our moods and feelings to reach our goals.
