Taipei - 'If dating is not going anywhere', maybe the proverb is suitable for this case. Camera that has been lost for 13 years, can return to the owner's hands.
The story begins with the discovery of a group of children who was cleaning the beach in Taiwan. The rock-like object turned out to be a camera covered with sea animals barnacles and shells, but thanks to the air-conditioned casing is still in good condition.
"An 11-year-old boy found the camera, we thought it was broken, but when we took off the barnacles in the chassis we found a button to open the casing," Park Park told BBC News on Thursday (29/3/2018).
Not a drop of water came in and the camera.
"Even more amazing, the boy turned on the camera and it's still on!"
Upon returning to school, Mr. Lee and the students discussed what to do with their camera findings.
"Some kids think we've got a camera and can keep it in. Others are suggesting looking for the owner ...".
Lee initially doubted whether to see the contents of the camera and post it, but it seems that's just how to find the owner. Finally, he posted a photo of his student's findings along with photos from the camera on Facebook.
And in just one day, they receive a response.
"I can not believe it's my camera," says camera owner Serina Tsubakihara.
"I was very surprised when my friends told me and sent me an upload with the photos," Tsubakihara said.
Missing 2005 ago
Serina Tsubakihara, a Japanese university student, was on holiday in the island of Ishigaki, Okinawa, about 250 km east of Taiwan, when his camera disappeared.
"I was scuba diving when I lost my camera when one of my friends ran out of air and needed help," Tsubakihara said.
After falling in September 2005, Tsubakihara assumed his camera was lost forever. Because it is wrapped in waterproof casing, the camera was safe to travel hundreds of kilometers to finally be stranded on a Taiwan coast.
