Thoughts from yet another airport | Hey, I reached 70 rep

in busy •  6 years ago  (edited)

Yeah, these "thoughts from an airport" freewrites are getting old.

Especially because I´ve written at least 5 freewrites in the past month and let´s be honest, there´s only so much you can write about when it comes to honest and real life freewriting. I mean, I could write about fictional experiences or tell you some fantasy stories and I could freewrite everyday three times a day but I like to keep my freewritings about real life circumstances, feelings and well, obviously thoughts from this nomad mind.

I started writing this freewrite in my laptop while waiting for a connection flight but my battery ran out faster than a whale ignores a minnow when they call him "Sir or Boss", so yeah, pretty quick. Then I got my cellphone out and noticed I had 12% battery.

My cellphone is special, it's battery is supposed to last 48 hours even if I'm using it during the whole time and most of the times it stays true to it's word but this time after some 30 hrs is failing me.

This airport is like a Mexican airport in the 80's, there is literally no power outlet in the while building except for the one in the restrooms, so here I am, charging my phone sitting in a not so reliable floor. I don't really mind though, I've sat in way worse places.

Oh yeah don't you remember? I had to get out of Russia for a few days because even though Uncle Vladi already announced that fan ID holders - the ID for football fans - will be able to come and go as we please in Russia during 2018, that law hasn't been approved yet. It will, I'm sure. But right now every football fan that stayed until the 25th had to get out of mother Russia and in case anyone wants to come back, they'll have to wait until official word is out.

That's why I'm here, in an airport at 3 am waiting for a connection flight that leaves at 7:30 am to a secret country.

I'm not telling you about this particular adventure because it's top secret. Remember I'm a nomad by day and a spy by night. Night time varies depending on the country I'm at the moment I make the statement and depending on my mood, sometimes night time has nothing to do with nightfall, get it?

So yeah, I'm going to stay in this secret venue until mother Russia accepts me back.

In the meantime I will do my best to post about my previous explorations in Russia. They are not many because I spent most of my time there watching football, partying with people from all the world and meeting girls - yeah sure, I met like 2 girls in a month obviously - or sick in bed but still, I have a few good stories for you in the near future.

On another subject, oh how I wish I reached reputation 70 a week before! I would have twice gotten twice the byteballs I got from the airdrop but to be honest I didn't realize I was so close to reaching the famous 70.

Not a lot of people reach rep 70 with just organic votes. It took me a year and 3 months to do it and I'm a steemian who gets a lot of votes - most are self votes obviously - so I know it is quite hard for most users to even think of reaching this rep and for that I have to thank everyone who's voted on my posts at least one time, thank you for giving me your little grain of salt to help me build this saltcastle.

I'm happy I'm this rep now, it's like a symbolic reward or goal. It doesn't mean anything in reality, especially now that anyone can "buy reputation by just buying bid bot votes" but still, for those of us who reached it organically is a nice feeling :)

Oh yeah, I never described the thumbnail picture. This airport looks like a shelter. I counted at least 100 people sleeping on the floor waiting for their flight to start boarding.

An airport is one of the best chances to see people behave as if they were at home and nobody was watching. People get showers in the restroom, change clothes, brush their teeth and what not. In the waiting room they sleep, kiss, read, shout at their kids, yawn like walruses and more.

Staying awake in an airport is the best chance to go to a human zoo without paying and analyze other people's behaviour. I'm thinking that for my next waiting room I'm not going to do a freewrite but instead I'm going to take a lot of candid picture of people doing their thing, perhaps that way I can change the tonic of my posts written in an airport, maybe that way I can refresh my "thoughts from an airport".

I'm glad to hear that you're traveling and pickin up the babes! Keep up the good work play boy :)

Man, I hope that bathroom floor you're sitting on is clean, bro, lol. The only airport bathroom I've been in was a bit of a mess, at least it wasn't as bad as most public restrooms.

Hope your traveling all goes well though and you get to where you're going safe and sound. You also better have plenty of stories to tell us about all the groin stomping you had Russian women do to your junk, I fully expect a tale about how you got testicular torsion from it. (Don't you try to deny that you're into that sorta thing. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU.)

Also, congratulations on hitting 70 rep, my dood. That's definitely an awesome goal, and I'm hoping by January after I've been here for 2 years that I'll be at least close to hitting 70 rep myself!

I envision you here...

eeww that's grungy dude lol

That’s my master bathroom floor. Life gets hectic sometimes and you just gotta leave the pee on the floor. Sometimes there’s shows to watch. Ya know?

Ewwwwww
Wait
Eeeeeeeeew (was having breakfast lol)

You arent the first lovely lady’s breakfast I’ve ruined...definitely won’t be the last. Lol

The big question is...what was for breakfast?!?

congooooooooz

Thank you for sharing your experience and it is good that you can put your thoughts "on paper", sometimes there are so many things go through the mind and even you can catch yourself having found a solution for a problem that you were trying to resolve for a while.

The nice memories you shared are really appreciated by every person who anyhow has any connection with Russia, this is really beautiful, multicultural country with a big heart and it is a shame that due to the stereotype of Russia in our mind many people have not tried to discover this country.

It must be awkward to walk through the night airport, that reminds me the movie "Terminal" with Tom Hanks. Have you had the same thought when you were there?

Very well written brother. Enjoyed your thoughts. I'm not a big fan of airports but I do love to people watch. I'm looking forward to your next post of the "people zoo" pics........ sounds hilariously interesting. It'll be fun to see what pics you choose for the post if you go this route. Enjoyed.

Congratulations on the milestone achieved so far. Was imagining how you will look like when your age in real gets to 70

Just my thought any way😊

reaching 70 is so hard.. i remember those times. congrats!

Different airport , different experience . But on the bright side , congratulations on the 70 reputation

I notice this like some days ago I was hoping you would make a post. The truth is it's an amazing milestone, it's always very difficult to leave one number range into another however you did so nicely, 70 is the rep of legends and of course you're one. Congratulations my friend

The phrases I liked best are:
  • My battery died faster than a whale ignores a small fish when they call it "Lord or Boss"
  • Remember that I am a nomad by day and a spy by night
  • To be honest, I didn't realize I was this close to getting to the famous 70's.
  • Thank you for giving me your little grain of salt to help me build this salt castle.
  • In the waiting room they sleep, kiss, read, yell at their children, yawn like walruses and more

  • Believe me, I laughed more and more with each of your phrases, the ones that struck me the most were that at night you're a spy. As always I wish you all the best (in that secret country you'll be in) as you return to Uncle Dimir's.
    Again...
    THANK YOU!

I think you did too much in all that month that you were there ie, you managed to go to all the games, you met many people including part of their culture and now you have a new project in mind! It's really amazing everything you do so it's a great achievement :)

Congrats on reaching rep 70. But to be honset, I'm more interested on where you're headin next

I promise to speak about it once I'm out of here! Thanks for the congrats :)

First, you deserved that 70 Reputation, @anomadsoul! Quality, quality, quality all the time. :)

And yes to taking pictures of people. It'll be like a photo narration of people in the airport. That one right there is super chill compared to Dubai's very busy airport.

I actually got this freewriting spirit from you. Thanks for always inspiring people.

    Cheers! 🥂

I'm so glad you got the freewriting stone off your foot :)

Thank you for your nice words about quality, in the end we all try to make the best, sometimes it turns out I can write nice things :)

You always write nice things though. 👌 Does it make sense that I am already looking forward to your December contests? Hehe.

    Felicidades on hitting 70!

I hope you are having a safe trip and getting enough sleep, nothing worse than a traveling nomad to sick to enjoy himself.

I look forward to your next adventure and more Russian girls :)

It turned out a great entry in the diary. I hope in your secret country will not be worse than in Russia. Good luck to you and Love.

Получилось отличная запись в дневник. Надеюсь, в вашей секретной стране будет не хуже, чем в России. Удачи Вам и Любви.

Congrats man! I was expecting it :)
goldmatters and coruscate reached 70 a couple of weeks ago as well. All three of you guys were on 68 together, then on 69.....

Yeah I think I got there like a week ago but hadn't noticed until someone pointed it out a few days ago :D
They say the real struggle starts at the 70s and it's pretty hard to grow one single number :O

I think this might be true. I have seen accounts that post regularly and have pretty solid standing in the community but still stuck to the same numbers (above seventy) that they were on four--five months ago. I also know a guy who has been on 72 for at least three months.......... and so on.

I'll keep an eye out for which of you guys cross the first digit after seventy :-)

Congrats in reaching rep 70. Certainly deserves a celebration by getting with organic votes. Those who made it with bid bots will never know what their true value is.

    @anomadsoul
Rep 70 is just a great achievement. There are only 304 steemians who do have a higher rep than 70! So don't be to humble about it, because most of it was with organic growth, which makes it even more unbelievable. You are ranked 296th in the rep ranking!
Really enjoyed your coverage of the World Cup, which probably will have excelled the rep increase.

    Really made me laugh with:

I started writing this freewrite in my laptop while waiting for a connection flight but my battery ran out faster than a whale ignores a minnow when they call him "Sir or Boss", so yeah, pretty quick.

Have fun at your secret destination!
    Cheers,
    Peter

Congrats man! For reaching reputation 70.
And it's just an experience to see such airport with low class facility. Yet we have to ready to face every challenge of our life.
Visiting a zoo was better idea than staying a airport...

Congratulations on hitting 70! I think it's definitely much better to hit it organically ;D

Curious to see where you go with the candid shots.

    goatsig

Congratulations on your 70 rep! I hate airports with a passion, kind of many mishaps trauma. I have had to overnight a few times ;)

Well, congrats on your milestone; reaching 70 organically is a pretty significant achievement; unless you have massive "whale support" it seems to take 15 to 24 months of an active schedule to get there.

I hope your secret destination treats you well...

Congrats @anomadsoul on 70 Reputation Score!

That’s really unusual they have plugs only by the restrooms...
I’ve been to Domodedovo airport, it was ok, I heard that Seremetyevo is much worse.

In Russia could happen a lot of awkward situations so for sure I would love to read more ;). So true, about the airports and the bathrooms, I know that very well, man. Greetings and good work

Airports are the first step to changing your surroundings!

I couldn't agree more with the statement of "airport is like a human zoo". I have a mix feeling about airports, it brings me here and there around the world but put me in the position where I am frustrated and angry sometimes because of the long waiting time to board on a plane. The worst part is when there are absolutely no outlets at older airports which could be a real frustration for digital nomads. That's when I started being like everyone else, to sit and wait on the bench while observing the people who pass by. All and all, I guess that's the nature of an airport. Btw, grats on your huge success :)

Congratulations on reaching the big 70.

Why don't you just buy one of these power banks - I have a smaller version of an Anker battery, which is an excellent brand. This higher capacity version should genuinely last you 48 hours.

If you bought a blue tooth key board and combine it with your phone, you could then use your phone as a PC when your lap top dies.

Then you really could go a full 48 hours of constant use on the go.

Ha ha ha!! "A human zoo without paying" - it's funny, I never thought about it like that, but you're right! Especially if people have long layovers and such, you start to truly see what they're about. Please write more about your adventures in Mother Russia. I haven't been home in 3 years, and who knows when I can go next time. Meanwhile, I'll just read about your adventures :).

@anomadsoul, yes, your thought about the freewrite is absolutely true means writing when faced true circumstances and true experiences.

And what i like about you is, you write your post at random and unique places and you capture the picture where you write it.

And yes in my opinion, sometimes battery gives real pain for sure and what happens sometimes is, we go in flow and in that flow we forget about the battery.

And good luck for your next waiting room plans and i hope that your next post will be awesome. And I've never visited Airport so great to saw the essence from your picture.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

Congratultaions on the 70 man - Hope to make it too this year :)

I think it took me longer to go from 69 to 70 than to get from 25 to 69 loool.

Hell yeah man I'm pretty sure it will be before SF :D
