Apple Cider Vinegar!
The last time I purchased Organic Apple Cider Vinegar I paid about $6.00 for a 32 ounce bottle. That’s crazy! We use it for it health benefits as well as for cleaning and preserving so we go through a bottle pretty fast! But at $7.00 who can afford that?
You may have heard about the many health and beauty benefits associated with drinking and using Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, right? May prevent Cancer, Lowers Blood Sugar for Diabetics, Lowers Cholesterol and fights Heart Disease, Reduces Belly fat, aids in Weight loss… The list is long!

Did you know Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine used vinegar for wound cleaning? Vinegar helps fight bacteria. We all know vinegar is used for food preservation, fermentation, and of course household cleaning. I clean my windows with vinegar!
As I continue my personal journey with healthier eating and living, I include Apple Cider Vinegar in my morning glass of water!
And yes, it tastes good, quite refreshing!
My husband often has morning congestion. He drinks a glass of water with 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar and this immediately eliminates any congestion and phlegm. It’s pretty amazing!
Needless to say, we go through Apple Cider Vinegar pretty quickly. I have always preferred to make my own!
Yes, I made Apple Cider Vinegar! And I’ll show you how. So easy!
Before we begin, those of you who make applesauce, apple butter, apple chips or apple anything, you can use your scraps for this! I do use organic apples, make sure they are washed well and pesticide free! Yes, cores too! How about that! You can make a small bottle of vinegar or gallons depending on your needs.
Remember, don’t throw away those apple scraps, make a bottle of vinegar!
Ingredients
- Organic Granny Smith Apples
- Organic Red Delicious Apples
- 4 Tablespoons Organic coconut sugar
- Glass Gallon Jar
- Cheese cloth or tight mesh lid for jar
Preparation
- Core and chop Apples
- Fill jar ¾ full with chopped apples and scraps!
- Mix coconut sugar with 4 cups of filtered water
- Fill jar with filtered water and sugar.
Make sure the apples are covered with water. You may need to weight them down as they will float! - Cover jar with cheese cloth using a rubber band or a tight mesh lid.
Place jar in cool dry dark area and wait!
Within a week your apples will start to bubble. This indicates the fermentation process is beginning. Make sure the apples are under the water. You don’t want any mold!

After about 3 weeks your apples will smell a bit like alcohol. At this time remove the apple pieces and scraps and discard.
Cover your jar again and leave for another 2-3 weeks. This will allow the alcohol to turn to vinegar. Note you will have some sediment on the bottom of your jar.
Taste your cider. if it is strong enough for your taste it is ready! If not, leave another week and taste again. If your cider is too strong, you may dilute to your taste. You can filter the cider if you don’t want to have the sediment. I just leave it for extra nutrition!
Lovely isn’t it! I love bottling the vinegar in these small bottles!

So, how about that my friends. 6 organic apples cost about $2.00. We made ½ gallon of apple cider vinegar!
And the best part, I know it is pure, with no additives. For those of you with apple trees! I envy you!
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you’ll try making your own Apple Cider Vinegar. It’s really too easy to not give it a whirl!
And as always, blessings to you all
I am very excited to try this out when our Apples come in. We have 4 or 5 different wild apple trees on our Farm. They are all very different but we eat from all the trees. Last year I made apple syrup with my peels. I love using the scraps so this is right up my alley. We buy vinegar currently and I am drinking it each morning, well most mornings. I don't like it at all but I do it for the benefits. I don't mind eating things I don't like if they are THAT good for me. Love your post! Thanks :)

I'm not sure, I know wine turns to vinegar but I think because beer is made from grain or malt it goes rancid. I'll check it out for you!

I need to finally try this after we go apple picking this year! I love doing ACV in the mornings, too. It was a lifesaver when I first transitioned to a plant-based diet and bumped up my fiber intake dramatically! :)
