Volunteer

If reading or hearing the word volunteers, the first thing that comes to mind is that most of us may be the ones who helped during the disaster, such as the evacuation of the victims or assisting with their basic needs while in the barracks, but are volunteers present only for the moment of disaster? Even if the definition is broader than that, what explanation can actually be used to completely unravel the meaning of the volunteers
