¿Las crinolinas?
Los extremos en la moda sirven frecuentemente como escondites utiles. Hay leyendas de prisioneros que escaparon debajo de las crinolinas de las damas. Probablemente, las crinolinas y las faldas largas de los años 1800 eran muy incomodas; por este motivo, un inventor y empresario aligero la carga con el diseño de una banca liviana, parecida a una silla de caza, atada a la cintura y escondida debajo de la crinolina y la falda. Para descansar lo único que la dama debía hacer era reclinarse hacia atrás, desafiando según parece la ley de la gravedad.
