Organized and risk free workplace with 6S(methodology), Part-2, Seiri

In my introduction part, already wrote about 6s methodology which you will find here. Among the 6s, here we will review the first ‘S’ which is Seiri (Sort).

At our home or office, we do a lot of work with many tools or materials. All these stuffs are really required which exists around us? If you review properly, will find a lot of objects are not required at all which make obstacle only to perform the work accurately or precisely. That’s why ‘Seiri’ has been added in the 6s process. Seiri means sorting out the things which do not add any value rather make the process delay.

So, in the 6s journey, first step is to identify the unwanted materials beside you and make a red tag area to gather those items which will be waiting for removal. When you feel that all the unwanted materials have been identified and gathered in the red tag zone, declare a ‘Seiri day’. On the occasion of Seiri day, all the garbage will be removed from the workplace.
