His lectures were always packed with Muslims and tapes were recorded on radio and mosques almost every day. At that time, there were no clerics who were as popular as Zainuddin MZ. When the television industry began to develop, other popular clerics such as Aa Gym, Yusuf Mansur, the late Jefri AL Buchori, Arifin Ilham, and Mamah Dedeh were left behind. Entering the digital era, Somad represented a group of lecturers who used social media in delivering their lectures. He seems to understand well the tendency of people to consume media today who use the internet more.
