The Greeks turned to a Mediterranean diet as a result of the economic crisis, according to a recent survey by the Greek Consumer Protection Center (KEPKA).

According to a survey conducted on a sample of 1,059 consumers across Greece, the number of people eating at restaurants and chains is significantly reduced compared to 2011. In addition, people change their eating habits because they can no longer buy basic foods.

Greeks improved their eating habits and turned to a Mediterranean diet, as a result of the economic crisis, President of the Consumer Center, Nikos Tsemperlidis said.

As MIA's correspondent from Athens said, bread, vegetables and fruits returned to the family dinner. On the other hand, red meat, fish, french fries and soft drinks are limited to once a week. Sweets, legumes, pasta, chicken, eggs and milk are consumed several times a week, while the consumption of lamb and goat meat is limited to once a month.
