As a tiny fish, new to the STEEM Blockchain, you need your STEEM for other things right now. Do not power it up!
Instead, here are my top tips of steps you can take to grow your blog and SP:
- Send STEEM to @scrooger and @olegXXX each week
- Lease Delegated SP
- Join @qurator
- Buy @steembasicincome shares
- Buy @minnowbooster shares
NOTE ONE: Everything I am advising in this post is with the assumption you are posting at least one post on the STEEM Blockchain per day. If you are not doing that, try:
- Freewriting with @mariannewest – a daily 5 minute writing prompt
- 30 day black and white challenge.
- @actifit
- contest and challenge posts
If you are small and cannot post daily, your chance of success here is very small. Your goal should be 2-3 posts. No less than one and no more than four.
Additionally, do not go for the 100% power up. You need this STEEM money available now to succeed.
NOTE TWO: There are people here who will help you in the beginning by delegating SP to you for free. Start by visiting @thedarkhorse and present your case to him.
So with the assumptions:
- you are posting good content daily
- you are taking rewards at 50/50
Here is what to do with your STEEM. These tips are in the order you should take these actions.
Send STEEM to @scrooger and @oleg326756 each week
Both of them will give you votes. Do this each Monday when their weekly posts come out.
0.001 to scrooger through the @feedyourminnows account OR Send 0.01 for more benefit. Upvote the @scrooger post.
Now you will get one vote each day from @feedyourminnows0.05 to @olegXXX and vote and resteem
Now you will get two votes a day from @oleg326756
Read their rules and do as they say and the votes will come in.
Bonus on @scrooger
Find the funniest gif each week on the theme of the week and you will get 100% upvotes for the next week.
Tip for voting
Put both of these nice guys on your @steemdunk free autovoter for 100% at 12-14 minutes. Why?
- You need to vote their posts anyway.
- Neither posts much otherwise, so you will not drain your power.
- You will start getting curation rewards soon as your SP grows.
- If you vote later with your tiny SP – you will never get curation rewards.
NOTE: Also add @steemdunk itself to your @steemdunk autovoter and they will vote for you every so often.
Lease delegated SP
Why should you lease delegated SP instead of powering up directly?
- If you power up tiny SP on a tiny account, you will see almost no benefit.
- If you take that same STEEM and lease delegated SP with it, you get a much bigger bang for your STEEM buck.
- Once you have a larger SP with delegation You actual SP will grow exponentially faster than without it.
The only one who will delegate to you when you are new is @blocktrades. All delegations are for 90 days. Currently this is the rate:
- 2 STEEM gives you 14.143 SP (minimum lease amount)
- 3 STEEM gives you 28.286 SP
- 4 STEEM gives you 56.576 SP
- 5 STEEM gives you 70.719 SP
- 6 STEEM gives you 84.866 SP
- 7 STEEM gives you 99.009 SP
As soon as you get 2 SP, go to
https://blocktrades.us/
and set up a lease with it.
and again,
and again.
I recommend setting up an account with them so that you can see and track what you have done with them.
Once you have 100 total sp, you can hold off and lease 100 at a time instead.
Once you have a few weeks of good consistent posting going on, you can try using @minnowbooster to lease delegated sp instead of @blocktrades.
It is cheaper but actual people have to make the decision to lease to you. This is a crapshoot, but you might get lucky. I will not cover the details of using @minnowbooster in this post.
Join Qurator for 4 STEEM
As soon as you have a few weeks of good posts and 4 STEEM – join @qurator and take advantage of everything they have going on. You will get a good daily vote and a lot of other good benefits. I have already posted about @qurator details here:
Make it a goal to get in there. Once you do get in - add them to your steemdunk autovoter for bigger votes.
Buy SBI shares
@steembasicincome is a program on STEEM that gives you an upvote for life on every post you make. If you only have one share, it is a small upvote and does not come on each post, but as you accumulate more shares, the upvote will grow. Check out the @steembasicincome account for more information.
You can also win shares in the the MANY contests giving them out. I am always on the hunt for more SBI and you should be too.
Add @steembasicincome to your autovoter as well for bigger votes.
Buy @minnowbooster shares
@minnowbooster is a program that gives good upvotes to your posts similar to SBI. Go over to the blog and see if they are selling shares and get in if you can.
This is another place with lifetime upvotes that start small and grow as you get more shares. They very actively support new accounts, so try to get there asap.
There are other things you can do with your STEEM, but these are the first few to get you started.
I have no STEEM!
When you are new, getting good votes on your posts is not easy. But there are many streategies for new accounts to succeed here. I have many of these in this post:
After you read the post, be sure to look at the additional links in the comments below. These tips will all help you do better and gain STEEM to be able to afford the opportunities here.

It is that time of year when the fitness equipment is out and the diet books are being read. I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods, and you can too!
This is Sharon @fitinfun. I am posting:

Please follow along or contact me directly if you would like some individual help with weight loss and health. Anyone can do this if I did.
Many great tips in here. I should also point at that both @qurator and @steembasicincome offer multiplier bonuses when you upvote their content. As soon as you are enrolled in each program, you should also put them in your auto-voters at 2x per day. @qurator often posts twice in a day and offers regular contests.
@steembasicincome typically posts once per day, but the timing sometimes results in 2x one UTC day and 0 the next, so you want to keep your auto-voter at 2x. It also posts regular lists of member-hosted contests (as you mentioned). Many are targeted to young accounts and do not require resteem/upvote/follow, which is great for small accounts struggling with RC.

Oh dang! I forgot about that and will alter the post. Thank you so much for chiming in to help. Also if they use @steemdunk, they give a vote too if they vote and it's only a few votes a month.
The @qurator post Ilinked has all that info and way more. I love that program and I am so glad I joined.
I just started a new blog @fitinfunfood and delegated 100 sp to it. It is 10 days old now and the rc hovers at 20-30%! I cannot imagine how hard it is with only 50 sp or less.

Sometimes you can can get upvotes from busy and esteemapp too. Busy's upvote is based on the mvests of your followers (weird formula) so it doesn't add up to much for most newcomers. I never could figure out how esteem app picked what to vote, and I eventually switched to @partiko because everything loads so much more quickly. I don't post through it, though- just comments. Truth be told, I don't post much at all on my personal profile, which is why my SBI votes come in on my comments instead.

Hello @fitinfun! I can not agree with everything you said. What does the delegation need for new accounts? There are no returns from the delegation. If it is different, I will listen. It is not true that a small voice does not mean anything in curating. Voice 0.001-0.003 matters. The content and message are the most important. Bosters, minowbosters and other bots earn only on such beginner people.

Delegation actually costs you steem so unless you need extra sp to comment you will lose money by doing it. Its a quick way to lose steem.

I do not feel like that is the right answer. My native sp grows exponentially faster with delegated sp than without it.
This post is targeted at those who need the sp to survive at all - not on the people at the point of thinking about profits.
My "normal" advice to "normal" steemers is to get delegations until at least their own sp is at 500 - In most cases I would say to continue until you are at 1000. Then you can be on your own, will know what you are doing, and do not need the help.

Little people have:
By getting more sp, everything changes for the better and they can actually function here.
If you power up 2 STEEM you get basically nothing. If you lease delegated sp with 2 STEEM you get more power. It is leverage.

Look at the 0.01 I just voted you with. Now imagine your excitement if it was 0.05. You pay more attention to my response, you engage in more dialogue with me, maybe you even upvote in response.
I used to always upvote at 0.02 so that it was never dusted, and it works out pretty well. Now I need to lease more delegation to get back up there because STEEM price decline makes my upvotes less valuable.

So this post is kind of contradictory to my own post from Yesterday and I just love it when I get to read different opinions. You do have some valid points but there are some things you should know.
First of all if I am not wrong @feedyourminnows which is run by @scrooger does have a lifetime registration policy I know this cause I have been in it from way back when I had less than 1000 SP.
Secondly leasing SP is not an easy task. Most of the times the person leasing ends up in a loss unless you have an airtight system. I lease over 20K SP so I know that there are times when you will not be able to pay the lease. Now you might be wondering that the payment is upfront so why the fuss? It's because you should want to keep your leases for longer period of time cause the person leasing his/her SP to you has to wait 5 days once you decide to cancel that lease after just one week. So after a few cycles of leasing you may find that no one is filling up your orders in Minnowbooster as they know that you will cancel out after one week and they would have to wait another week to get back the SP.
Joining @qurator is the only point that I would agree on as it does have it's benefits.
As for @steembasicincome there are several contests that are being run by several people across Steemit so you should try those before just going and buying shares of your own.
The only reason I suggested powering g up 100% for Minnows is because the price of STEEM is low and combined with the fact that several people have left Steemit due to loss in price has left the reward pool wide open for us. We get a bigger share of the reward and if you can accumulate a decent amount of SP in this time that would be huge once the price of STEEM gets high.
I hope I was able to give a proper reply.

@scrooger stopped the lifetime registration quite a while ago.
I lease too and advise many small delegations instead of big huge ones. In my case, I have about 7 of them now - all for 100 sp, so if there is a cancellation, it's not a big deal and I can just go in for a new one.
It's not about "rate of return" for these minnows. The RC tragedy means they run out of sp and can do NOTHING for days until it charges back up.
OR they can only do two or three things at a time.
1 post drains their rc
1 comment drains their rc
1 vote drains their rc
1 edit of a post or a comment costs the same as the original post
If they do the above 4 things with 30 sp they are dead. If they only have 15 sp, it's worse.
This post was only about the issues stated. The other post I linked tells about contests and about 50 other tips and strategies to earn STEEM in the first place so they can do any of this.
I will edit this post to make that point clearer in the section about sbi, so thank you very much.
It's fine about the price being low or whatever, @arunava. I get what you are saying and agree it's great for some people. But these little people cannot function here at all without help. The problems you face at 20K delegation are much different than for the baby accounts.
On my new @fitinfunfood blog I got a delegation of 100 sp for 90 days from @blocktrades. I have been hovering around 20% RC and with a bunch of replies today, I went below 10%. So I just got another 40 sp delegation (for 3 STEEM) so I can continue. That brought me back to close to 40% RC so I will still have to watch it. This is with almost 150 SP now.

Ok so I didn't know about the Lifetime Registrations been paused that's my Bad and I also agree on the fact that this whole RC thing has several people still confused as to how this works.
What I am trying to say is that the main thing is Balancing and not get frustrated. You can't just be born and want to start running right. Similarly, when you create an account here you get Zero SP which really sucks as you can only either Post or Comment once at this point of time. But if this was one Year ago I would have completely agreed with you but now we have several dapps which gives out Upvotes for your work. eSteem gives out Upvotes once a day for anyone who posts via their App, Busy also does the same there are many more that does that but the one that I would say is the most useful for Minnows to acquire an Upvote is Musing. You can get close to a Dollar worth of Upvotes if you give a deserving answer to the questions asked on Musing. If you have 100% Powered up that is around 3 SP in your pocket right there per day. This now pushes you above and now you can Post or comment thrice a day that means you can Post once on either Busy/esteem/Dlike and try to get a free Upvote and at the same Time Comment an answer on Musing to get another 3 SP in the Bucket. It's all about Compounding.
As for Delegations there is a lot going on. Blocktrades does give out delegations but they do charge a premium rate over Minnowbooster and at the end of it all if a Minnow doesn't make some sort of profit at the end of the Week then 80% of the Time he/she will think about leaving the Platform. I know this cause I have seen this happen. As most of us come here for the Money so profits does matter.
I do agree that we both have points that are pretty true but I am talking about long term perspective. The Minnows need to work hard now so that they can reap later. I joined Steemit around a Year and Half ago and now I am sitting on 5K SP and I did not buy a single STEEM. Yes I did receive a tiny Delegation from Steemit but only for a couple months and at that point of Time there weren't many options like now.
There are many people here on Steemit helping Minnows hell if it's a problem of RC's I am willing to delegate some SP to Minnows for a week. But they got to do the work and preserve their SP as believe me when the next Bull Run comes there will be a shortage of SP.

I see the points you are making, but I still do not agree baby fish should power up 100% when new. I actually take money out of here weekly to live on, so I have a much different perspective than someone hoping the place will pop in few years maybe.
I post only with dapps and only because they give me upvotes. Busy, esteem, dtube and ulogs all give me good votes at least 75% of the time.
I had no idea musing was so lucrative, so I will look into it. The musing posts I have noticed recently have been sub-par with almost no reward, so I must look further to see what you are talking about. I can spout off on many niche topics, so it might be a place for me to post and then possibly recommend to others.
I normally lease from @minnowbooster for 24 weeks and have the long game on that with many leases staggered at all times. If someone is looking for a profit by leasing for a week, I agree they are in the wrong place.
If you are interested in delegating to baby accounts, check with @thedarkhorse. He's got a program going on to help little people, but nothing for one week, I am sure.
I comment 100 times a day between three accounts. Commenting 3X a day would not work for me, or most people. You need to be able to post, comment in various places, and reply as needed. Even 50 sp does not let that happen now.
The idea of delegation in the beginning is not to make a profit. It is to be able to survive.
I hope you might be able to visit @scrooger once a week on Mondays and slam him with a good vote since you have such good power now. He's still voting for you, and you might find minnows there commenting and worthy of help. And that way you can know if any further changes come to that program in a timely manner, since he gives info in that weekly post.
I don't know if oleg helped you in the beginning of your time here, but if so, I'm sure he would be grateful for any vote as well.
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
