Colors: How to use it for job interviews and in the workplace

in busy •  7 years ago

Once I was practicing an Oratory course, in order to master my stage fright and they gave me several interesting tips. One of them was referring to the colors, to know what kind of colors to use on the stage, in your clothes and also depending on what you are going to say.

The subject's quite interesting, because we look closely, colors greatly influence the psychology of people. In fact, if we study marketing a bit and all that branch, we always sell brands with different colors. For example, we have a Mc Donald's, Burguer King, Wendy, among others, they offer us their brand with the colors red and yellow, that we know how harmful they are (that their products when delivered give more pain than hunger, at least in Venezuela).

At work, whether in an interview to enter or already in the same environment, colors continue to play a fundamental role.

Here we have the meaning of the colors in the type of clothing

Green:

It's a good color to maintain concentration and clarity in the long term, widely used in issues related to health and nature.
It's not the most flattering for many skin tones, as it can be reflected on the face and cause a strange aspect of dizziness, what you must take into account to come dressed in this color to a job interview.

Orange:

Some theorists maintain that an orange-colored environment increases the supply of oxygen to the brain, promotes the stimulation of mental activity, while at the same time loosening inhibitions of people. Orange should be used sparingly and in small doses.

Blue:

Some research suggests that people with highly intellectual work, which requires a high cognitive load, for example, programmers or academics, are the most productive in a blue environment, preferably in clear tones. It's prudent to use it in relaxation rooms, such as the bedroom, the reading room, and even in the offices, although not in excess, as it would provide too much quietness.

Blue is the color of calm and empathy. A good color to combine. You also have to take into account the nuances of it, because if you're going to be presented to a formal and financial environment, the navy blue is the ideal.

Red:

Red's the color of vitality and energy, however, it must be used with caution, because in excess it causes an excitement and fatigue in the organism. Unless it's a fast-food environment, which seeks to attract attention quickly and then tire quickly too, it is better for decorative details, such as for a man's tie or women's accessories.

White:

The white is ideal to illuminate, give a feeling of spaciousness and neatness. It's one of the most used "colors". You have to take care of the target, since, being lacking motivation, it's not the most recommended to use in offices or study spaces, as it is not motivating for such activities. It's always advisable to combine it with other colors, depending on the effect you are looking for. If used as a background, it will highlight other colors (take into account for the workplace).

In the case of an interview, it is not wrong to use it, because white denotes honesty. However, it's good to combine it with other colors.

Pink:

The color of sex It is also a very "girl" option, the favorite among celebrities who practice topless, and so on. The men's pink shirts are fashionable and they stop being cyclical and very fast. Intense pink may suggest a desire to attract attention.

It's also necessary to consider that the excess of this color can create a feeling of childlikeness. Another thing to note, is that this color denotes calm and if you are in a very stressful environment, this color is good to lower spirits, although in excess is not very good.

Yellow:

Yellow is a color of joy and optimism, it facilitates concentration in offices, but be careful not to use very saturated or intense tones because it can create irritability in workers.

It is not so linked to logical or strategic thinking. It is good to use it sparingly: in a tie, or in a jacket or skirt in the case of women.

Other considerations about colors

The colors are very important in the day to day, in fact we try to combine and take into account all these nuances to look good in front of someone. If the day is very hot, we avoid black, because we know it is a color that attracts a lot of heat. Thus, we must take many considerations.

The proper use of colors also helps us, because it affects the psychological level. And the psyche (mind) dominates everything else.
