Who is a child?
Cambridge School Dictionary defines a child as:
1.. a young person who is not yet an adult.
2.. someone's son or daughter, also when they are adults.
My pastor asked the adults in the church a question doing the thanksgiving session of the children's day celebration:
Who among you adults present here today never passed the developmental stage as a child?
Perhaps when you were born so much air blew you that you became an adult that very instant?
He concluded by saying that there is need to be thankful to God for this lovely young ones as we(adult) have at one point or the order passed through the stage of being a child.
In order to put a direct connotative meaning to the definition of who a child is as seen above.
A child is young person who is still dependent on her parents or independent adults for everything.
This definition represent the proportion of the children that are being celebrated today. Let's not forget our obligations as adults to these young ones. Every child is a blessing and should be treated as such with so much care and love.
Remember we are just mere custodians of this children. We are to nurture and groom them in the way and fear of the Lord.
Do not wait till you start having your child before you show care and concern for that child that lives next door when her mother is out. Every adult be it parents or potential parents in the making should show sincere efforts in building strong and morally sound children through communal parenting. Extend your hand of love, care, guidance and correction to that child whenever the need arises be it your biological child or not.
