Touch-me-not, Makahiya or Miss Bashful : a natural medicine?

in busy •  6 years ago

With its' scientific name of Mimosa Pudica or Bashful Mimosa in English, it is called differently worldwide. In the Philippines alone and with our different dialects, it is called by many names. In Tagalog, MAKAHIYA is pretty much known and BASHFUL is what its' meant literally. Miss Bashful i think is pretty much nicer.

An article have this to say regarding with Miss Bashful:

It is a medicinal herb with antibacterial, anti-venom, antifertility, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, aphrodisiac, and various other pharmacological activities.

We rarely see its' cute flowers but here it is!

I don't know any usage of this plant, what i do know is the enjoyment it produces each time it is noticed by any adult or child. Growing up, each time we see one, we get excited with anticipation as we eagerly touch its' leaves. One plant after the other.

  • Check out its' wide-spread leaves.

  • Now have closed-up upon touching them.

Another article listed a lot of benefits like treatment for asthma, diabetis, hypertension, arthritis, premature ejaculation among others.

It can just be a defense mechanism against predatory humans but I can see why as many farm animals almost are grazing everywhere and eating any grass they can see.

Healthcare is expensive in this part of the world, with medications as the most expensive part and professional fees. With the many benefits of MIMOSA PUDICA that can be found online, perhaps it needs more attention and research in what it can do as a natural medicine as more and more people are now going back to indigenous medicine.

Natural, effective and free.
