Walk of Hope Update : In Preparation for our "Creating Livelihood Advocacy" Workshop

in busy •  6 years ago

While awaiting for Fundition's approval of my proposal for this project, I am quite excited for the received pledges so far. As the target dates are on the 15-16th of this month, our artists will need to go to Kabankalan City ahead of time.

The said project is to teach bamboo crafts and innovations for our 30 scholars so that they will have a bit of income to continue their scholarships. If unable, they will lose their scholarship and will stop their studies. These kids are of junior high school to college students from a less fortunate families in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

All for $5 plus postage. Now, these are just a few bamboo products being made in Bayawan City. As there is a market for these products, manpower is more of the issue to supply the demand.

Create livelihood, independence, empowerment and eradicating POVERTY.

In the Fundition proposal, the SHORT-TERM GOAL was for the kids to have an income to continue their studies.

For the LONG-TERM GOAL, creating a livelihood is more sustaining and beneficial in a way that the people we are helping will be able to be INDEPENDENT and EMPOWERED in the long run. This and our hope that dependence to charities and POVERTY will be eradicated.

If they want to.

Short of funds?

No problem, @flabbergast-art can improvise. Remember our banner last June? He painted one when we were short of funds.

There were some leftovers from our last @walkofhope art workshop last April. @flabbergast-art now have been checking if there were any. And voila!

Expect some Music & Arts then bamboo crafts in Kabankalan City.

I admire the Creating Livelihood Advocacy project you have with walkofhope. Best of luck to the project being approved for fundition funding.

Short term goals are admirable, but it is long-term sustainability with education and training that will empower students in life. I hope the students will receive the funding from the Steem/Fundition community.

Yeah i hope so too thank you. The project will push through regardless as it is very much needed. We will make do with what we have, though I have had donations and a pledge😊

We are more excited of the bamboo hub that's being planned after this project.

Glad to hear the project is going at full speed ahead. I admire those that help others. Will be sure to check out the bamboo hub post. Good luck there!

Oh a lot of Creatives in the Philippines are into that...so i have high hopes for the country, without going political.

We have a target but making do with what we have is an answer, helped by a few so it's cool.
Those kids wanna continue their schooling so a lil help ìn that direction is sometimes more than enough. Am excited though...
And the parents too will have an income-generating project is what i was told.

All looking good except that 250kph typhoon whose about to fall.

Wow, great initiative to support the arts and education! The banner looks very cool. You might be interested in this contest: Bamboozled's Bamboo contest

Hello friend @immarojas, how nice it is to read about the activities and projects that supports to support students with less financial resources, but I'm sure they are young people with a lot of intelligence and an immense heart, God wants you to make the projects come true so you can continue to make many happy. Congratulations and blessings.

Thank you. With the platform and a lot of Steemians...we can do a lot, help a lot...
especially those who badly needs to help themselves.
Great possibilities ahead☺

That sounds like a good problem to have @immarojas. Where are the products sold mostly?

The Creative from Kabankalan have connections in Bacolod City and Iloilo City. Like in Bayawan City, bamboo crafts are bought directly and taken to Dumaguete City...to be sold. There is an agreement already from buyers. They just need to be done as mostly, they are lacking in supply.

Surrounding cities are starting now to implent No to Plastic ordinances...so it sounds good Gillian.
