Time To End The Biggest Failed Experiment On The Steem Blockchain!!!

This is a sad, sad post...

Honestly I have wholeheartedly silently approved with many of your views in the past but this one is just desperately depressing.

Why should we reward mediocrity?

Why don't you instead promote a large range of quality apps with quality content on top of the steem blockchain?

Are we that desperate that we think we should copy the mediocrity of other successful sites for the sake of monetary enrichment?

This is a kick in the knee for all of those who are trying their best to bring value to the site through quality content.

At a microscale it hasn't been a total failure so far.

I won't be an ambassador of steem at the cost of promoting mediocrity for the sake of personal enrichment.

It's short sighted and morally questionable.

I should add that many of the reasons for steem not gaining more traction are technical.

Too difficult to creat an account.
Too difficult to login.
Too expensive to run a witness node.
Difficult API to use.
Etc.

Fix these and see many steem apps flourish on all devices.

That will also create value...

This is tricky - who judges "mediocrity"? You? me? "the steem quality police"?

I think we need different Dapps to suit different needs and requirements. A Medium-style Dapp might be good for the sort of stuff that you might be alluding to? Then there needs to be a place(s) for people to share their "stuff".

It's all about connection at the end of the day. Isn't it? What works for some of us won't work for others...

Anyone with a downvote or upvote. The community?

Too much time spent "judging"...?

Only for those of us who rarely use the flagging feature. Those flaggers seem to have a passion for it. 😎

Great insight. We have a hard enough time explaining crytocurrency and block chain technology to our friends. Forget explaining “where the money comes from” on Steemit. THEN we tell our friends it will take a week to sign up 😂😅 We really have to work to breakdown the accessibility barriers to the platform.
