The Polish Financial Supervisory Authority (KNF) is conducting a social media campaign on the risks of investing in cryptocurrencies, according to a May 10 publication on the KNF website.
KNF has placed an order for 615,000 zlotys (around 173,000 USD) to plan and carry out the campaign, which focuses on the risks associated with cryptocurrencies, pyramid schemes and currency trading.
The recent initiative of KNF is evidently part of a larger campaign against cryptocurrency led by the country's authorities. In mid-February, the Central Bank of Poland admitted financing a US $ 27,000 cryptocurrency campaign that consisted specifically of a YouTube video, with no hint of sponsored content, about a man who lost all his money in the trade of encryption
The Central Bank of Poland and the KNF have also partnered to create an educational anti-cryptographic website that explains why "the virtual currency is not money" and "cryptocurrencies are not currencies".
Also in February, in response to the government's efforts, a small film studio launched a documentary on the cryptocurrency in Poland, called Krypto, with the stated aim of educating Polish citizens about the crypto and blockchain technology.
The official publication of KNF says it will accept applications and proposals for the campaign until May 18, and the campaign will begin in June 2018 and will last 30 days.
The description of the initiative by KNF also mentions the promotion of an application called "KNF Alert". According to the local news site Bitcoin.pl, the campaign will include two 30-second video spots, presumably on television.
The previous education campaign against cryptocurrency in Poland was received mainly negatively in the country, particularly due to the lack of transparency regarding the sponsorship of the YouTube video.
The central bank of Poland responded in depth to the criticism, mentioning the volatility of the cryptomelians and the use of cryptography for cyber crimes as a boost for the video. However, the bank did notice that they do not oppose the development of blockchain technology.
Today, CointeTegraph reported that the Polish Credit Office, the largest credit bureau in Central and Eastern Europe, has partnered with a fintech firm in the United Kingdom with the aim of implementing blockchain for the storage of customer data. .
